What a good game! Sam w a walk off two run HR to win 7-6. 3 HR’s in last two innings.
4:35 for the Coogs.
Interesting lineup. Davis dropped to 6th, Redden back in at catcher, and Coldiron dropped to 9th
Top 1
Easy inning for Cumbie and he picks up his 1st K
M1…No Score
Tom Franklin on the call for TV.
I’m fairly convinced at this point that Whitting is just using a random number generator to come up with these lineups.
Bottom 1
Leadoff infield single by Padgett, but Coogs strand him even with a couple of hard hit balls.
T2…No Score
Top 2
1 out single and a 2 run bomb puts UK up 2-0
Cumbie gives up another hit and a runner reaches on an error before a K and a walk loads the bases with 2 outs. Double drives in 3 more. UK up 5-0
Cumbie gets out of the inning with his 3rd K
M2…UK leads 5-0
Bottom 2
Leadoff walk by Hollis, but nothing else doing.
T3…UK leads 5-0
I’ve got a few other things going on so I’ll try to post if something significant happens from now on.
Down 7-0, it’s basically over, we just don’t have the power in the lineup this year, going to be a long year
Cumbie done after 3 1/3.
Trevis Sundgren on and making his collegiate debut.
2 batters later and it’s now 8-0 Kentucky. Next batter hits a bomb and it’s 10-0.
Ouch, I agree we don’t have the bats we had last year and that it may be a long year, but you have to hope we improve enough to at least be competitive in AAC play…boy, I wish we had Sam Houston State’s bats…
Run rule in the tournament?
Bottom 4
3 straight singles by Davis, Triolo, and Redden scores Davis. 1 out. 10-1 Kentucky
Leadoff homer in the 5th makes it 11-1 UK
Another run comes home later in the inning to make it 12-1.
Griffin Hatting on to make his collegiate debut
I can’t remember us getting beat this badly during a start by our best pitcher…and certainly nothing like this in this particular tourney…
Last time we were beat this bad in the Classic on a Friday was 2003 against #10 Baylor when we lost 14-4. Also lost to Baylor on the Friday in 2001 16-7. Good news is that we made the Super Regional in ‘03 and made the tourney in ‘01.
Hollis brings home Lockhart in the 5th on a groundout. 12-2 Kentucky
