Great…another study from the “scientific community” that draws grave conclusions but yet is too small to apply to the broader population.
a new myocarditis study in the Journal of American Medical Association that sparked panic across college sports didn’t have the “bandwidth” to be transferable in a useful way. -
I don’t get how the writer concluded that the ACC would cancel if the Big XII canceled their Fall season.

This does not bode well for sports this season (I assume each athlete was tested in some way prior to be infected to conclude COVID caused these abnormalities):
Brian Hainline, the NCAA’s chief medical officer, said last week he was aware of 12 athletes suffering from myocarditis after COVID-19.
This has to be done. Conferences and universities can’t get cheap with it. I would even mandate a set minimum time a player has to be out or all practices/games after no longer being positive so there isn’t any funny business from some schools.
“Ackerman pushed for the Big 12 to consider additional heart-related protocols to mitigate any possible risks, with the conference adopting plans to test athletes who had the coronavirus with an EKG, cardiac MRI, echocardiogram and troponin blood test. He stressed that any player who contracts COVID-19 needs to have a “squeaky clean cardiac evaluation” before getting the go-ahead to return to play.”
I agree 100 percent with thos. Take EVERY precaution possible if you’re going to play. The players’ lives are far more important than football.
We can have another season whenever but you can’t replace human beings.
If you are going to take these precautions, shouldn’t you go ahead and scan everyone now to get a baseline? And can every school afford it? Myocarditis can be caused by many things (below is from the Mayo Clinic and is only a partial list) so you could have athletes that already have this condition from earlier infections of COVID or other viruses.
Yes, you probably should scan everybody. There is no doubt that anybody who gets Covid should be scanned and monitored. If a university can’t afford it, they shouldn’t be playing. Michael Ojo died on the court because of this.
