How a player gets a 7th year of eligibility

Story isn’t about UH, but they do mention that some big name players have hit 6 years… They only name one such player, Case Keenum.

I hear the NCAA may allow players to play in up to 3 or 4 games and STILL be eligible for a redshirt (non injury). This would be awesome IMO. Let’s young players play while still allowing them to play up to 5 full years.

I’m not 100% on this but think that if you put all of Case’s games together over those years is is like playing 4 full years but that may be only starts, not sure.
