Here we are. This is what I’ve been looking for you to admit. You just don’t care about others because you got yours. I’d ask you to take a deep long internal look (perhaps with the help of a therapist) and ask yourself if that’s truly who you want to be.

In 1970 at the University of Houston, it took less than a week working full time at minimum wage to pay tuition for a semester with a full course load. In 1998, it took 12 weeks of work. In 2022, 25 weeks. That’s not equitable opportunity

My personal definition of equitable when it comes to higher education is that all public colleges and universities be tuition free. That’s my ideal. I’d settle for a work to tuition ratio somewhere in between 1970 and 1998 though.

Re student debt, I paid $220/year for tuition at a good state university 1969-73. Adjusted for inflation, that would be $1,757/year today. Actual tuition today is $12,900.
