How is UH Going to Pay Athletes $20M in Revenue Sharing?

Thank you for posting but the coaches salaries is a misleading subject. Coaches salaries even if they are paid officially by the schools they are in fact paid by boosters. Same thing when a coach is fired.

Coaches salaries are in fact paid directly by the schools. The charts above seem to indicate that (on average) coaches salaries represent ~20% of the overall athletic department expenditures while donor contributions & endowments represent only ~15% of the overall athletics sources of funding and that includes major contributions for facilities and other such things.

And while UH’s media rights revenues are expected to increase by ~$30+ million/year going forward, the new ~$20+ million/year revenue share expected to be paid to UH’s student athletes will offset most of that increase. And so while UH’s historically large athletics department deficits will be helped somewhat by the higher media rights earnings, UH must increase ticket sales in football, et al, in order to reduce our large athletics deficit and remain competitive while operating with one of the lowest (if not THE lowest) athletics department budgets in the entire P4.

[NOTE: My family & friends have renewed our 8 FB season tickets (and 8 BB season tickets) and I hope that other UH fans have done the same…and that the UH athletic’s department creates some kind of new marketing programs (including corporate sales) in order to help attract thousands of additional new FB fans.]

WoodMarkCos I would agree with you but who ponied up to get Dana?
Whould paid for Dana to be fired?
I understand that the school pays the checks but without mega donors these coaches never come…or never get fired.

Chris - Sure, in some instances (like with Dana or Kelvin) a small group of donors may contribute to the hiring, retaining and reassignment/firing of a head FB or BB coach. Additionally however, such a head coach’s staff salaries likely cost the school as much or more than the head coach.

So I could be wrong here, but I think that the overall costs of coaches salaries and making coaching changes typically falls more on the school than it does on a small group of donors.

[NOTE TO SELF: Disregard ATM and never trust what UT will do.]

How did they allow you to get 8 tickets for basketball?

Everytime I ask to add more seats they give me h3ll for it and there is never available seats.

tcoog - We’ve had these same 8 BB season tickets ever since the Fertitta Center reopened.

I was just thinking, I graduated from UH 50 years ago:

so if just 20 students from each of the past 50 year’s UH graduating classes had a similar family/friends group of 8, then we couldn’t fit them all into the Fertitta Center. (50 yrs x 20 students = 1,000 groups of 8 = 8,000 BB fans.)

Similarly, if just 100 students from each of the past 50 year’s UH graduating classes had a similar family/friends group of 8, then we couldn’t fit them all into TDECU → Space City Stadium. (50 yrs x 100 students = 5,000 groups of 8 = 40,000 FB fans.)

Ah okay, I started out with 2 seats when we opened in 2018 and then got 3 in 2022.
I have trying to get to 5 seats since 2023 but they never have room.
