It’s very simple boys… If we want to WIN, and I mean really WIN and continue to WIN for a long time…
The way we do that is quit worrying about who the coach is going to be.
WE keep donating money to the athletics program and buying season tickets.
WE keep pushing the Athletics Department to improve facilities, and with our support they will continue to do this.
If we have top notch facilities… the rest will take care of itself. We’ve taken steps in right direction with TDECU Stadium, breaking ground on the indoor Football Practice Facility, and moving forward with Fertitta Center. If we have top notch facilities, we will be able to attract the very best players and the very best coaches.
It’s like when you are looking for an apartment or a neighborhood to live in… IT’S ABOUT THE AMENITIES!!! These kids are going to be “living” at UH for 4 years… if they have great amenities they will want to go to school at UH. If we have great amenities for the coaches to recruit with, then we will be able to attract great coaches.
By investing in FACILITIES… we have moved in the right direction.
This is the ONE thing WE CAN CONTROL… We can’t control what an individual will do or how long they might stay… but we can spend money $$$ on physical brick & mortar buildings/facilities that benefit the players and coaches. These buildings will be available for several generations to use… and they aren’t going to leave UH. They will belong to UH.
So take solace in the fact that our leadership has made some good decisions with the stadium, the practice facility, and Fertitta Center, the Baseball Clubhouse, etc… no matter what Herman decides to do, there will be a line of hungry coaches licking their chops at the OPPORTUNITY to coach in the 4th largest city in the country… the LARGEST CITY IN TEXAS… a fertile recruiting area which is ripe with high school football talent… and the chance to win and win quickly at a high level. We’ve proven that UH is place that this can be done (Briles did it, Sumlin did it, Herman has done it)… whoever it is, whenever that may be, is going to inherit a good situation and be able to GREAT things at the University of Houston #GoCoogs
