How Willie Fritz landed hometown hero Austin Carlisle

What I have noticed about Fritz, and a reason I really like him, is he runs stuff that fits the strengths of his players.

I’ve heard this said a lot. How does he do this? Does the OC or DC also change their philosophies?

Yes and no. Yes you may change your playbook a little on O and D. No you don’t change who you are.

I went to the Ridge Point game last night. Carlisle had a really nice game. I can’t find the stats, but he had 3 TD’s and 0 int’s. He had a 4th TD pass dropped in the end zone. He also led the team in rushing.

A couple of plays really stood out. He escaped some pressure and took off down the left sideline for a 30+ yard pickup. (It could have been 40+
it was a long rush).

Another play, he was forced to scramble. He had a receiver underneath for a safe gain, but he had the vision to see another receiver get some separation way down field. He threw a strike, but the ball was dropped. I don’t know what was more impressive, the vision or the throw.

It was pretty much on Carlisle last night as the RP running game got off to a slow start.
Austin had a really good game throwing passes all over the field.
He had a couple of decent runs but the one where you described him escaping the rush he was electric and really turned on the jets.
One thing I noticed last night was Austin got out of bounds every time he was cornered on the sideline.
Last year he would always seek contact and try to run over someone.
Bottom line he is the real deal. Coog fans will be happy as he develops into a college quarterback.
And btw, did you notice the Coog towel he carried around on the sidelines?

LOL No. my wife had us sitting up next to the band behind the Ridge Point Royals. I wasn’t even sure if I was in the stadium.

If you’re going to the game Thursday at Mercer, let’s try to say hi.

After tonight’s game, is there anyway this kid can play next week?

So, who do you think will start, him or Henderson?

Most likely, Carlisle will start QB next year and switch positions when Henderson gets on campus.

Do we even know for sure Henderson will make it to campus?
If I were a betting man I think maybe he ends up at a blue blood as a Qb/athlete. Too much money involved.
Regardless Carlisle will have a year seniority.
For next year I expect us to bring in a portal quarterback.

Here is a link to the Ridge Point highlights. It’s mostly Austin Carlisle. His most impressive throw isn’t in the video because it was dropped.

Not a chance

What’s up with meaningless speculations? The job of CWF and the OC etc to figure this out and here we are speculating that the highest ranked recruit will show up somewhere else. Who needs enemies with fans like this. Sheesh.

He has been adamant that he will only play QB at the next level.

He may be adamant right now but let’s see if he changes his mind when the big cash trucks come rolling in.
I certainly hope the kids comes here and fights with the other quarterbacks for the starting position. My point is that Carlisle will have a year under his belt. If it comes down to a battle between the two in a couple of years, that would be really great. May the best man win and the other move to help us at another position.
I have heard Henderson is one of the top receiving prospects in country too. And Carlisle can also play multiple positions. Should be interesting if this plays out.

There is talk all over different boards that Henderson is going to offered a boat load of money. That, in my opinion, is not speculation. Even though it is just talk at this point, why don’t we wait and see how this works out. The kid still has a year of high school ball left after this year and no contract has been signed.
And you think that telling the truth makes anyone less than a fan
Sheesh back at you

Did he play other positions early as a sophomore? Starting the middle of his sophomore year, he’s only played QB.

He will play QB at next level.

Not at Ridge Point
just saying he is a really good athlete and a smart kid who can play other places on the field. He also has not played baseball at RP but several folks have told me he is an outstanding player.

And who says he won"t? I hope we continue to recruit guys who are not afraid of competition
but it is doubtful we will have two starting quarterbacks lol
