Hypothetical

If CDH got tired of all the bad press and suddenly resigned? Who should UofH interview?

Here are a few options:

  1. D Sanders
  2. K Kingsbury
  3. T Herman
  4. K Briles
  5. E Bienemy

how about “none of the above”

Willie Fritz is my first choice. Dana’s contract is $4MM per year, Fritz is paid $2.5MM, so is a $1.5 bump enough to lure him from Tulane where the administration is deliriously happy with him for taking a team from the gutter to a a win in the Cotton Bowl over USC. He has them ranked again this year.

The Coach Prime ship has sailed. No on the other four. I’d be looking to go younger so no on Willie Fritz as well.

I think Willie is too old for our gig. Bringing in a mid-60 year old coach doesn’t make sense to me.

He’s 63 and has plenty of time left. Even if he only stayed 5 - 7 years, he would have built a solid program for his successor. If he gives us 7 more seasons, I will be 84 when he leaves. That’s enough for me, who knows if I will even be here?

KK would be my top pick out of 5. We know he will bring exciting offense and the ladies will show up for home games. LOL.

We have an HBCU across the street and another just down the road. We are so much more SWAC than CU. I’d make the call and shoot our shot.

So we fired Dana with a 14M buyout. Pay Coach Prime buyout with CU. And will probably have to pay Coach Prime 5M+ annually. Sure we have money for that?

Prime-slime, please no. I could deal with a few years of Fritz.

I would endure 2 more years of Dana if it meant Prime at the end. I don’t care for him particularly or think he’s a great coach. But he would turn recruiting on its head overnight. Every game is an event. That’s that we need.

All bs aside, the Broyles award nominees are coming out soon. That’s how we identified Herman in the first place so maybe we should try that again.

Don’t like any of those choices. Someone mentioned Van Malone. Might be a better choice. Would like a Wade or Pardee type with a RS offense.

He’s a great coach and seems like a good guy, but I wouldn’t be excited about being part of his retirement tour. I hope we go for someone who is young and hungry.
