I am This Old

My first NFL experience was the Giants/Colts Championship Game in 1959. With the exception of 74 & 75 serving overseas, there isn’t much I’ve missed

Where did she find that? It looks brand new. I am assuming it isn’t licensed but maybe I just haven’t seen that before.

And you’re seeing it again.

As for the Super Bowls, I have seen the last 58, but I was overseas during the first two, and AFRTS, Armed Forces Radio and TV, was the only way to get it on TV, and the tape came via a slow boat days later. I remember listening to some of the first two on the radio, because I had a buddy who was a big Packers fan.

Yes, from the Delmar Field House to the present crew, many great b ballers have represented us. Great Blanket.

Hard to believe Johnny U was a ninth round draft choice. Ninth round draft choice to NFL HOF.

By contrast, the younger of my two parents was born 9 months after the first Super Bowl.

I have pictures of Conerly, Rosey Brown, Alex Webster & Pat Sumerall on the walls of my home office

Quite the story.

Johnny U. was well known for wearing the high top black cleats, his entire career.

I admired Johnny U growing up, and he was kind of larger than life. I thought Johnny U was tall. Then I saw him live after he retired and was a little over 6’0”.

What is the old saying “never meet your heroes”, they often result in disappointment? Disappointment is too strong of a word, but it made me realize Johnny U is not built like Superman, but like the rest of us.

Jim Brown was built better than Superman. 6’2" 232 with a 32 inch waist. He was almost as big as some of the defensive linemen

Johnny U and Jim Brown were my favorites as a youngster.
Love watching Johnny in the two minute drill passing to Raymond Berry and Lenny Moore.
When I watched the Browns I would keep Jim Browns rushing yards on a tablet. He remains the GOAT!

I was 11 when I first saw Jim Brown. I asked my dad if any other teams named the team after a player. I thought Cleveland named the team after Jim Brown. He was that good.

Jim Brown played lacrosse when he was at Syracuse. Held the stick with one hand, blocked/pushed off with the other arm. Almost unstoppable

Held it against his chest and dared you to knock the ball out
