If McMickle Started the Season, What Would UH's Record Be?

Completely hypothetical question. If McMickle started since game 1, I think UH could be 3-2 this far in the season.

Thoughts please.

Irrelevant…about like “what would our record be if Case Keenum started for us this year.”

He showed promise in the spring game but would have had a learning curve in real games. With the current OL, not sure he would have been very effective. Looking forward to see him compete next year

Probably 1-4. The offense’s problems go deeper than just the QB.

With our OLine I doubt we’d see a super big improvement in wins.

I think we had a chance versus ISU if we had Ale. Smith had time and the running game was decent. And the D was lights out for most of the game.

I haven’t seen enough of Ale against a Top 20 team outside of garbage time against the backups to say that for sure.

I have heard of the backup QB being super popular on losing teams. This may be the first time I’ve heard the same thing about the backup to the backup.

I want Ale. I’ll tell you this, trotting out a horrendous Smith is an indictment on Fritz.

We have a history of the backup actually being better though

How about a history of the backup to the backup being better?

Lots of really good QBs start out as 3rd stringers. You don’t know what they have until they get the chance.

Based on the Spring game, McMickle was ahead of Ale in the depth chart. Ale is healthy and not playing, so the question is a posed hypothetical with McMickle. In my hypothetical rationale, McMickle has a better skill set for escaping the rush and passing more accurately to receivers.

it’s hard to see someone play when the coaching staff is hiding him under a rock. We have nothing to lose this year, give him a quarter and see what he can do.

McMickle also has a much quicker release than DS, somewhat negating the rush.
