Memphis is the obvious answer, especially since I assume we’d want that FedEx money to help pay off Tech to go away.

I think there’s only one ACC team that we’d have a remote chance of getting, given their geography and the fact that they’re currently not getting any TV money from the conference.

The two schools on my cutting room floor were Arkansas and SMU. I lumped Arkansas and Nebraska together, because I do not believe either would give up their conference money to move to the B12. My thought were these schools are small fish in a big pond, and if they moved to the B12, they could be big fish in a small pond. Nebraska was an inaugural member of the Big 8, and Arkansas was an inaugural member of the SWC. I’ve heard scuttlebut that Nebraska is not happy in the B1G, but my guess is that comes from not being competitive in football for decades. If Nebraska moved to the B12, I think their chances to make the playoffs increase, but there is no way they are leaving the B1G money.

SMU was omitted for geographic reasons. If SMU replaces Texas Tech, it keeps the Texas schools at four, and I think the B12 needs to expand it’s footprint. The only rationale for SMU to leave the ACC is if they thought the conference was unstable and were looking for an escape hatch.

Yeah… I would vote for SDSU if Nebraska wasn’t on there…

Nebraska isn’t realistic, though… you’d have to be a damned fool to leave the B1G or $EC currently…

  1. Rivaly with UCF would give the conference 3 rivalries:
    Holy War (BYU vs. Utah)
    Duel in the Desert (Arizona vs. Arizona St.)
    War on I-4 (UCF vs. USF).

  2. Started as a basketball school. They brought football along later. The Big East invited them along with Cincinnati, Louisville, Marquette, and DePaul in the the first C-USA invasion.

  3. Doing like UH did, building a new on-campus football stadium and renovating other on-campus sports venues.

  4. Tampa/Clearwater TV market.

Just my opinion.

UConn or Oregon st.

UConn is great in bb and Oregon st was a p5 member and I still view them that way. They have decent attendance in fb.

However we’re not kicking tech out bc we need them along with all members. Good news is tech is burning bridges to ever leaving the big 12.

But if you take Big Red out of the conversation then it is an interesting debate.
