They should use the colley matrix. Right now we have 4 b10, 2 sec, 2 acc, 1 B12, 1 ind, 1 mw, 1 p12.
I would watch this.

Iâd prefer the BCS CPU formula pick the top 12 teams as opposed to the committee.
SMU was one spot away from playing in the Fiesta Bowl last year. Liberty did a great job with Oregon. /s Then again, SMU lost at BC as well. SMU playing great since starting Kevin Jennings, except for the game at Duke.
Sure there will be some blowouts here but this is a win for college football fans. Iâd be interested in watching most of these games. Donât like the precedent of 4 BIG and 4 SEC teams though. I told yâall that was coming thoughâŠthis is why if playoffs expand to 14 or 16 Iâd be adamant about Big 12 and ACC getting 2 auto bids and going ahead and allowing BIG/SEC to get 4 auto bids each as a concession. Basically 2 Big 12, 2 ACC, 4 SEC, 4 BIG, 1 G5, top ranked left. If it goes to 14 and they donât get a 2nd bid assurance then you will see 5 BIG/5 SEC scenariosâŠ
I think a nice sweet spot will be 14 teams personally which is essentially a 16 team bracket with the top 2 teams getting an opening bye. This adds 2 games of TV inventory to the bracket. You could give the top 2 ranked conference winners the bye (which would typically be the SEC/BIG winners). Any further expansion WE MUST get a 2nd auto bid for the Big 12. That is non-negotiable if Iâm Yormark. Canât have a 14 team playoff being 5 BIG, 5 SEC, 2 ACC, 1 Big 12, 1 G5.
How about 16 teams. Rank them based on NIL$$. Teams with highest NIL numbers are ranked 16 and up, therefore the team with smallest NIL would be ranked at the top and have the easiest path.
Let the big dollar NIL teams have to earn it !!!![]()
Its ALEADY 3-3-2-2 with 2 open spots for next several years after this year. Big 12 already has their 2 spots in playoff.
All conference winners plus at large. College football would finally be completely fairâŠwhere every single team has a chance to win the NCAA championship based purely on on-field performanceâŠYou know, like every other NCAA sport and every other sport on the planet.
12 team playoff = 8 SEC/BIG and 4 others, 16 team playoff means 12 SEC/BIG and 4 others.
Probably, but lower tier conferences should push the NCAA to mandate conference winners get into the playoff no matter their conference, like very other college sport.
Stop being afraid of the SEC/B10. Tell them to stuff it. If they donât like it, send them packing for ALL sports. Basketball, baseball, soccer, track etc. Let them go. Completely.
This isnât a NCAA championship, it is an ESPN championship.
So 4,4,2,2
Where are you getting that? Everything I have seen is that format next year is same as this year which means 1 auto bid for Big 12. 2026 and beyond is still under discussions. Maybe I missed it if a decision has been made.
so for me 4,4,2,2,1 + 1 (for 14 team playoff) is going to be pretty stable for a while and would be mostly interesting to watch (no 63-7 beatdowns of Ohio State over Miami-Ohio or something in an âevery conference winner gets inâ scenario). With 14, the idea is the top 2 ranked conference champions get byes in the opening round which will typically mean BIG/SEC and will make it HUGE to win those conferences and those conference championship games will be must see (as if they already werenât). TV gets 2 more games of inventory from opening round in 14 team vs 12 team playoff.
In this scenario, we should just go ahead and concede 4 and 4 for BIG/SEC but only if we get 2 auto bids. I know this wonât be popular among some on here that state âwe are equalsâ with BIG/SEC, but we all know that it is really more a a 3 tier system now. Letâs be honest. 2/16 is a much nicer spot to be than 1/60 or whatever the G5 would be.
When I read about the 14 team proposal, it was not the two highest rated champions getting a bye. IT was specifically listed as the SEC and B1G getting byes.
Also any rules that build in an advantage for a specific conference should not be allowed. By this I mean auto bids to a playoff where one conference gets more guaranteed bids than another. If the SEC and B1G are guaranteed 4 pots while the ACC and Big 12 are guaranteed 2 or 1 spot, that affects permanent recruiting and strength of conference. SHOULD NOT BE SUPPORTED. It will just make the gaps bigger and last longer as other conferences will no longer be able to improve.
Not possible for the Big 12 and ACC to compete against the other two when the other two pay more and have more guaranteed access for championships, and get first round byes along with all the âbetterâ perception that will also go with it. Top players will only go to those two conferences because of the stack of advantages: more money, more CFP access, more media promoting/advertising them as the best. Why would the best players choose anything else?
Monte has anything changed from the following:
From the corrupt ncaaâs mouth
The College Football Playoff will introduce a 12-team playoff bracket for the 2024-25 season, expanding from the four-team format. Hereâs what you need to know about the change:
The new 12-team College Football Playoff field will include the five highest-ranked conference champions, which will receive automatic bids. The seven highest-ranked teams remaining will round out the 12-team format.
The top four teams will receive a first-round bye to the quarterfinals.
From the corrupt cfpâs mouth
My understanding is that the BIG12 and acc are guaranteed one spot but nothing else. Now think about this.
The sec and big10 want to schedule each other. Is it far fetched to think that cfp will look at these scheduled games as âmomentousâ games? It is easy to foresee a cfp mainly comprised of sec and big10 schools with just one BIG12, one acc and one g5 school. That way the p2âs control the

I canât stand SMU, but theyâre just as deserving as any other ACC team. Their only loss came on the road against an undefeated BYU.
Personally, I think they have one of the better offenses in the country, and I think they could beat anyone. They actually remind me so much of one of our teams from the past, running a high octane offense with a pretty stout defense.
Yep. This dude is a player. He reminds me of a larger version of Greg Ward.
To me itâs like demanding to be respected at work when you got the job through nepotism. Perception is set regardless of merit. So itâs funny to me to see whatâs happening to them
Technically we arenât guaranteed anything. It is the top 5 conference champions and everyone assumes that means the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, ACC, and a G5. It could be SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Boise State, and Army. In theory.
I got your point but sec and big10 do not consider theories. What matters to them is how much money they can get. Hence putting the maximum amount of sec and big10 schools even though they do not deserve these spots.
