Illini Invitational. Women’s Golf

Another very good showing starting round three. Program is in good hands.

Tied up with Ole Miss with a little over half the round remaining. What a historic course to get a chance to play. Would be awesome to win a tournament there.

Is this on ESPN +

Coming down to the wire. After a bit of a slow start, the Coogs have made up some ground in the last few holes. Need a strong finish.

Ole Miss playing lights out today. Should be able to hold on to 2nd.

Are we back?

Coogs put 4 in the top 20 and lose to Ole Miss by 3.

Great showing from Lydia’s squad to beat teams like Auburn, UCF, UCLA, Alabama, Tech, and Georgia.

This team has some stars. Annika Ishiyama, freshman, has back to back top 10s and has yet to finish outside of the top 20.

Watch out. Coogs easily a top 20 team right now, if not top 15.

Yes, they have beaten some pre-season ranked teams rather handily. I’m guess around 15th myself when the initial rankings come out.

So do I understand correctly that this tournament goes down as 13-1 in the W/L column since we finished in 2nd (last place N. Illinois cutoff from screen grab)? I’ve heard before that’s how they determine rankings.

I didn’t realize they had changed the methodology. Or what the system was before outside of eye test and results. This seems like a pretty good summation.

First rankings just released.

Lady Coogs. 25
Men. 49

Think the Ladies are a bit under rated, the men about where I thought they would be.

Boy, definitely expected a top 20 ranking for the ladies. I really wish we had some sort of indoor practice facility on campus. Some really cool indoor facilities out there. I’ll bite the bullet if I hit the lotto.

Another solid tournament for the ladies. Looking at the rankings, we definitely should’ve been top #20.

Lydia Gumm is doing a great job! I have to admit I was concerned when Chadwell left for the Ags, but I think we are well positioned for continued success. Just wish the secondary sports got a little more support from the fans.
