Let’s just rush in because the cops aren’t doing anything like they are supposed to,” Javier Cazares, whose daughter Jacklyn was killed in the attack, told the AP. “More could have been done.”
“There were five or six of [us] fathers, hearing the gunshots, and [police officers] were telling us to move back,” Cazares told the Washington Post. “We didn’t care about us. We wanted to storm the building. We were saying, ‘Let’s go,’ because that is how worried we were, and we wanted to get our babies out.”
In an interview Wednesday evening with San Antonio outlet KENS 5, a fourth grader who said he had been hiding in a classroom indicated that police officers’ actions may have caused another child who was hiding from the shooter to get shot.
“When the cops came, the cop said, ‘Yell if you need help!’ And one of the persons in my class said ‘help.’ The guy overheard, and he came in and shot her,” said the boy. “The cop barged into that classroom. The guy shot at the cop. And the cops started shooting.”
So it was 4 members of Border patrol who went in and stopped the shooter. They were in a stack formation and I’m hearing that one of the four was actually off duty at the time of the shooting.
It seems like the shooter could of done way more harm but was unaware that he was the only one with a gun in the building for a while.
Something tells me we won’t be hearing from Gov Abbott for awhile, sure he’ll show up for NRA tomorrow and pick up his check but they’re gonna let Texas DPS take the fall now.
I feel sorry for those cops. They are probably decent human beings but they will be branded as cowards. It will follow them around the rest of their days. I hope the reports are wrong.
I assume those cops were following orders. I don’t blane them.
But there is reason they wanted to go in as a tactical team. Because you can’t just walk up to person with gun. Anybody approaching was being shot at. If the trained tactical team needed to do it slow no way arming teachers would help
