Ingress and Egress

It seemed like the school was surprised by the game last night. Non-existant to little traffic control coming in and the same going out. No trays for refreshments, no lids for souvenir drinks. Original Ninfas much anticipated debut served something called ‘Ninfa Dogs.’ Ticket scanning devices did not work. We have 4 season tickets and one reader read that the ticket had already been used (it had not). Several young women posing for many, many photos down front made little sense. At the red lot, the reader also did not work. Glad the team and band were on a different track than the rest of the school.

Somehow, this seems to get worse every year.

And I don’t want to hear another AD word salad about needing to get better. This isn’t new. You just didn’t do your job.

No excuse for all the problems. They had all summer to fix them! What the hell were they doing?

Yeah, definitely needs fixing. I will say I had no problems getting in. Palm center transit worked well. I really like the video board and sound system. I did get a bag of popcorn and it tasted like it had been sitting out for a few hours. It can’t be that hard to pop fresh popcorn, can it?

We had no problem getting into the stadium from the stadium parking garage. I had Halal Guys(?), and it was pretty good. One thing I did not like is that it was hard to find freaking powerade. like its 100 degrees out, why would you not have that available readily for people too buy?

I was glad the beer guys card reader worked without a hitch. Then I saw my $2 tip made it a little over $20 for one Modelo. Standard now I guess.

We had no problem getting in or out. I saw traffic control when we left the game.
No problem with the scanner reading our tickets or parking pass.

What about riding Metro Rail, from Downtown or from near Little Woodrow’s?

Anyone do that?

The chicken tenders and wings below the new end zone facility on the lower bowl is really good. I think it’s the best chicken tenders spicy I ever had.

Inbound I 45 to Elgin, Cullen to Holman and into the Garage. Slick. Held up at gate because folks having problems with their tickets. I have paper so while they were fiddling with their phones, I got scanned and in we went… Stayed to the end, and had no problem getting back SB on 45.

Ninja’s also had nachos, crispy tacos and flautas which i had and were good, the dogs were weird but I applaud them trying something different. What were you looking for sizziling fajitas or an enchilada platter?

Seriously I had the flautas, 3 flautas for $13 pretty tasty and less then the price of a beer

I’ll try that next game for sure

Went to the Baylor game and it reaffirmed my opinion that we let (and really, make) too many people park on campus. Fast, frequent shuttle service gets you from the stadium to off-site parking very quickly, and then everyone’s not leaving from the same place. (Basically every SEC school does something similar.)

We try to use MetroRail instead, and as someone that uses it almost every game, it doesn’t work nearly as well. Service isn’t frequent enough to support postgame egress from the stadium in any substantial numbers, and it isn’t direct to the destination, either. A couple of buses back and forth between the stadium and offsite parking makes life way easier, especially when they have a protected lane.

For a few years, I have parked in Palm Center and taken the rail. Always felt uncomfortable leaving my vehicle there and frequently felt uncomfortable on the train because we were frequently without any fellow Coogs. I like to get to the games early causing this. There seems to me to be limited parking available near the campus and I’m thinking security would be a major factor for off campus parking. Being strapped for cash, providing busses for off campus transportation might be more than desired by school.
Considering Baylor, they have a lot of open space along the river for parking so I don’t believe they have a major problem.

Can you ride the Train from Downtown or from The East End?

Yes, we do that for most games and weekend basketball games. Woodrows was packed this week due to the Astros getting out around 430. But its generally great. Got on the train around 615 and were in our Party Patio by before 640.

Yeah, but the downside to taking the rail is that it only comes like every 30 minutes postgame, so if you’re not out immediately you’re just chillin’ on the platform for quite a while. For games when we’re full, and we might have more than one train worth of people in either direction, it’s a pretty big problem.

The beers are larger than previous seasons. But $17 before tip is crazy.
