I actually disagree. Even if we go 6-6, I could see him getting fired if there is a clear candidate out there. 5-7 with an embarrassing loss to UT and he is gone. If something crazy happens and we go 7-5, then he gets another year.
They weren’t going to fire him after last season because it would have been a terrible look nationally firing a coach who has won 20 games in two years who was hired after the last coach got fired for going 8-5. A losing season and it’s business as usual. Tilman might like him, but he hates the school being embarrassed more than anything.
We were embarrassed by TCU, we will be annihilated by UT. Book it. Plus by then most Coog fans will have had enough and most of TDECU will be ugly orange
UTSA lost to Army at home Friday night. Army had the ball 45 of 60 minutes. So it turns out that UTSA are not the potential giant killers we were told. We lost to Rice. We lost to TCU. The effort against the Corndogs was there. Play calling is terrible. TCU sent three defensive lineman and dropped 8 into coverage. We can’t make a yard on 4th down against a 3 man line. No, this team is not going anywhere and will be lucky to win another game.
Point taken on a few Big 12 wins and the powers that be will think Dana can get the job done… but it’s not like we’re tanking for a draft spot, in fact it’s the exact opposite, the more wins the better for recruiting. A new coach can sell the program a little easier it a player knows he will be joining a team that is somewhat competent.
I will just leave it there - once Texas and Ok leaves the conference, how good will it be? It seems Colorado is bringing some oomph, Utah will be rock solid, UCF seems well coached and then? KState? Not very encouraging. Houston needs to become the King fast.
Cincy caught Miami of OHIO! between a big win over Pitt, and a huge game this weekend against Oklahoma. I HOPE! the Miami of OHIO! game was a fluke and Cincy is better than that game…by that same questionable logic im praying Pitt is better than they looked against Cincinnati and West Virginia and maybe the Mountaineers win over the Panties was better than it looks right now. Ok State appears to have real offensive issues. Im not counting out anyone in the conference race just yet.
Best case scenario is 5-7 with wins over Sam Houston, West Virginia, Cincinnati, and Oklahoma State. Even that is a stretch as 3-9 is probably the most likely record at this point.
