I like the players coming to the other students and putting their faces on the team. It gets more students interested in supporting them, For students that don’t grow up in a family that watches football, there is a disconnect at the college level. They need to see they are cheering for fellow classmates and not just some team that has Houston on the jerseys.
Good point. I’ve always considered college football the closes thing to European soccer fandom. I’m specifically talking the small clubs. You have songs, support from the local town (in our case a major city), but most importantly your peers are on the team. Having your peers represent the place where you come from or school you attended has an added sense of pride for them.
