Lance Zerlein also thinks this.
I’m on board. Brilliant offensive mind that hopefully has learned maturity after his stint at Alabama. Looking forward to his staff as he should be able to put together a good one.
I’ll be more excited once I see the huge buyout for the first 2 years in there.
Agreed. I do have serious concerns about his maturity and how long he plans on being here. But he must have convinced administration that he is here for the long-term, however long that is these days, and that he has grown up under Saban.
Let’s see if he’s the one that caved or if Fertitta did. If Kiffin caved, then it’s a sign of his maturity. And I’m on board.
I said the only person I wouldn’t support is Art Briles and will stick to my word.
Houston decides on Lane Kiffin as next coach
I believe Durate but …
.
Duarte probably told to wait. Someone wants to release on the their timeline
My second least favorite. But in reality i didn’t dislike any candidate. Just a bit confused as to what happened to Riley. Sounded like they were extremely excited about him. I’m not worried Kiffin will leave, I know he will. As I’ve said, as long as we’re winning we could switch coaches twice a year and I wouldn’t care, winning is what’s important, not the name on a door. So if it is Kiffin, I say good luck to him and welcome to UH!
Long as we have candidates ready to interview every December, welcome to Kiffin’s Kougar Korner

HUNTER with the dope meme!
He’s barely reaching his prime as a coach. He seems to finally matured a lot. He would do wonders with our qbs.
Black Smoke means no new Pope.
Tillman on radio saying no one has been offered.
Hunter’s post is black smoke. ⛇
Lance Zierlein said on his radio show that he go to his info because Kiffin is calling around trying to put a staff together. Guessing Wolken may also have gotten similar info, although he did put a qualifier in his article about Chancellor Khator needing to sign off.

Hear that decision will be made tonight to get staff in place to recruit this weekend. Dead period starts next week.
I would rethink the intials on that…
Based on what I have heard, I’m convinced it is Lane Kiffin AKA Joey Freshwater. I supported Applewhite but always said I would back whomever we named short of Briles. I think Kiffin could be VERY successful, but IMO he must leap a few hurdles. 1) He has to have matured from his time at USC and Tennessee. He can’t be posting silly crapola on Twitter and saying respected coaches are cheating and trying to be Joe Cool. 2) Number #2 goes hand in hand with #1. He has got to recruit this state. The HS coaching community here and many of the parents of recruits are very culturally conservative. They want to “loan” their player/son to a decent guy to whom they can relate, not necessarily this:
- And this ties to #2. I hope he can find coaches with Texas ties. Having been in California and Alabama so long, I don’t know how familiar he is with coaches in this state. A number of really good UT coaches are looking for jobs, and there are a few at Baylor (e,g. Cris Dishman) who are as well. I’m hoping he may retain 2-3 (maybe Pope and Casey, Wyatt if possible but doubt it), hire one of the better local HS coaches, preferably from a football factory school or area (maybe Allen Aldridge in Fort Bend), and then get some of these guys from UT like Matt Mattox, Clay Jennings, Brick Haley, and/or Brian Jean Mary. If he could take care of all three of those concerns, he should be a homerun hire, assuming he sticks around for at least three years.
