My concern with Traylor is his recruiting results are worse than Dana’s. Go to the recruiting websites and look at Kinne from Texas State. He has 22 recruits and has got commitments from several kids who have P5 offers and committed to Texas State.

Using data found via McIllece Sports, I put together a relatively simple chart comparing the DiffPwr average between our current football head coach (CDH), a few former coaches, and Jeff Traylor. DiffPwr, as I understand it, measures how much better a team is (than expected). As one can see, Jeff Traylor (as a head coach) has done well at getting his teams to perform better than expectations (and that’s precisely what we need, IMHO). Of course, Coach Traylor has not been a head coach as long as some of the others on this list have, but that said, this ability alone (to get his teams to perform above expectations) is incredibly alluring.
(FYI: the provider only publicly shared data from 2005-2022, and this chart is based on that limited data.)

Was on the phone with a well connected hs coach. He said Traylor wasn’t interested in UH. Said he’d take A&M if they agreed to leave him alone but those 5 guys who bought out Jimbo, at least a couple gonna want a say.

Both games (Dana vs. Traylor) were literal coin flips.
In fact UH needed some a couple of opportune calls to go its way in order to send the game into eventual 3OT!
Same with 2023 version of UTSA Vs UH….
Neither one of these guys blew each other outta the water but Traylor accomplished much more with his budget and roster than Dana did with what UH has!
To put it into perspective, UH baseball has more NIL money than UTSA football does!
UTSA football only logged 161,000 in the 2023 fiscal year for UTSA is what Traylor stated!!
That’s a FKN joke people! UH NIL for FB is nearly non existent compared to the big boys but out that in your pipe and smoke it- Todd whitting has a a higher NIL bucket to work with than Jeff Traylor has for an 110 man roster!

I think we should try to get lane kiffin still. If the buyout on our end is monthly the 7 mil isn’t as bad on the ole miss side If he’s interested. The thing is next yr with OU and Texas , lane’s job gets tougher with no upside to win big at ole miss so he might jump. The big 12 can be won with a kiffin here bc no monster programs to defeat so it could interest him.
Dana beat trailer and we have better recruits but prob not way better.
Trailer could maybe only be slightly better than Dana for all this money etc. We really need a big hit if we’re doing this.

A guy like Garrett Riley Kendal Briles Will stein Tom Herman (not welcomed) Joey McGuire etc etc. all stand to make a crap load of money if they play their cards right!
Point is that FBS is about to be turned upside down and what your think may happen isn’t actually going to happen. UH has to be prepared for the unexpected when living in the shadow of SEC and B1G!!
These young coaches know how to play the game! They can learn how to surround themselves with great support staff!!!
Traylor turned us down last year too, so not a surprise to hear this.
If Traylor is not interested in UH and wants to dictate terms to A&M, then Traylor will be “fading into Bolivian” before too long

If true, it’s best if we don’t get him. Sounds like he just wants to be left alone and coach football. Probably doesn’t like UH because its not the easiest job. Tons of expectations and we clearly have no problem firing coaches after two underperforming seasons. We need to find somebody who wants the challenge.

If we’re hiring trailer, I’d rather force Dana to hire new coordinators and see what happens maybe one that is so good he could take over after next yr. Trailer seems like a lateral move.
Otherwise go big as we can and ask or put feelers out to kiffin bc if he’s interested go for the big fish bc he wanted the job before and now it’s a much better job and winnable in the big12. We say bc he’s sec , he won’t but the clock is ticking on ole miss with OU and Texas going there. Ole miss has way less chance starting next yr.

If we Fire the Defense staff, i believe next year will be just as bad. Dana as HC has to change for me to believe we’re moving in the right direction
