Judas is a snake 🐍 salesman

We were 13-1 in 2011.

In that era we beat UCLA, TTech, Oklahoma State, Mississippi St., Penn St. and Pitt.

Biggest underachieving team in program history and as 2016 under Herman

Tom Judas Herman

Johnny that is my point. That team could have been great and we finished 7th in a mediocre conference.

He wasn’t a great coach. He inherited a treasure trove. Think about it: Ward at QB, Ayers and Allen, Bonner and Dunbar at WR, Farrow and Jackson at RB. And the defensive talent rivaled Alabama. DL included Oliver, Malveaux, Mark; LB: Roberts, Bowser, Taylor, Adams; DB: Wm. Jackson, Stewart, McDonald, Brandon Wilson, Harold Wilson, Davis, Williams, etc. Some 14 of those guys are in the NFL or spent time in the League. Their talent got them there, not Herman. I will say he pushed them harder than most coaches; that helped some. But he can’t do that as much at a place like Texas.

Herman could have it made here but I think Dana will get it equally done without all the bs

Yep. And Herman said our defensive talent was chickenshite.

I had forgotten about that one.

When he get’s canned at Texas I think he will realize that his eye where bigger than his stomach sorta speak. If he committed to be at UH he had all the makings of being our next big time coach and he would have had security here. Yea he will not hurt for money but neither would he had here and alot less pressure.

Like so many before him, he will leave a school like UT, then find a gig somewhere else and call it the greatest university in the country and his dream job.

I doubt anyone would want to play for him anymore. Go sooners.

He lost to unranked teams here too (and getting blown out by SMU) but we had wins over FSU, OU, Louisville (twice).

I think Texas beat OU once in the past four years but who else of consequence? Maybe Georgia. He also lost TWICE to awful Maryland teams.

My point is that he’s a good coach but still overrated.

I forgot to add that at one of the Coach’s Shows (I think it was after the Louisville game in 2015) I asked him if Houston could win a national championship and he said (almost verbatim but I’m paraphrasing) it would be easier here than at most P5 schools.

I’ll hang up and listen :ear:

I can’t see how he would mean that unless he means level of competition

Most years teams in a P5 conference have a margin of error of one game.

In a G5 conference you can’t lose a game and even then its no guarantee. Sure we are in a recruiting hotbed, but the competition is fierce. There are 5 P5 teams in Texas, plus the rest of the big 12 and western sec all recruit the area heavily. This doesn’t even count the national programs who come in and cherry pick.

If he was thinking that we would be getting a P5 invite at the time (its possible he did, I know when I visited a friend of mine on the staff in fall 2016 the mood wasn’t super good about it on the staff) then its possible. If (and thats a massive if) we get an invite its a gamechanger. Probably based on location alone immediately become one of the best 25 jobs in the country (especially if we are THE texas school in the PAC/ACC/BIG instead of just another Texas school in the XII).

I read it that we have an easier path than most P5. Which means we can get there easier than Vanderbilt or Washington st or Indiana.

Not that we have an easier path in general.
