Jwan's "off Ball foul" at Baylor

I don’t think this has been discussed enough. Scott Drew had his player physically foul Jwan at the end of the game in order to put our worst free throw player making FT that would decide the game. I think everyone felt EMAN got fouled but when they showed the foul on JWAN it had nothing to do with playing the ball. THE RULE: In basketball, an intentional foul away from the ball, or “off-the-ball,” is a personal or technical foul that neutralizes an opponent’s obvious advantageous position, including contact that is not a legitimate attempt to play the ball or player, or contact specifically designed to stop the clock.

It was purposely done and honestly a smart play by Coach Drew but it was not called properly. It again put Jwan who had previously missed his last 2 FT’s on the line giving Baylor a chance to go for the win. Kudos to Jwan - he sank both FT’s to ice the game. He has done that before. Jwan once again brought home the bacon when it was absolutely needed. Bravo Jwan

Jwan has shown he can be clutch.
Regardless, I want the refs to call it right

I LOVED Coach Sampson’s quote from the postgame, noting how happy Scott Drew was that they determined J’Wan was the free throw shooter. CKS thought it was bush league, and the only person happier in the arena when that second FT went in other than CKS was probably J’Wan himself

Should’ve been a tech

Absolutely nobody thought that was correctly handled except the refs

Well, of out top 8 players in rotation, Jo Jo is the worst FT shooter. Not sure if he was on the floor.

Bottom Line …… the refs blew the call !

That call was almost as bad as the “held ball” where Baylor didn’t touch the ball (but held Jwan’s arm)…

… or almost as bad as Baylor defender bear hugging Roberts and dragging him off the court under our basket, with the ref watching it.

Roberts and Francis have really improved their free throw shooting. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still holding my breath when they go to the line, but at least we have a fighting chance when they go to the line.

Bunch of suspect calls in the game.

There is always a “sleeze factor” associated with Baylor and their sports !!! All sports !!

There was a play where a Bear went to the ground in front of their bench and an assistant coach stepped on the court and helped him up. Is that legal?

Ice water in the veins.

Baylor are sleezy especially when their no. 7 hit our guy no. 21 purposly with his elbows on his head. He was caught and our guy made both FT’s toward the end of the game. (sorry I don’t remember our no.21’s name)

Dang. Roberts is our worst ft shooter?

J’Wan is a situationally great FT shooter. Early in the game, it’s not always pretty. In the gym after practice, I stand underneath the goal and watch him shoot FTs, and it’s not always pretty. Thursday, the day before they left for Baylor, I think he hit 2 of his last 8.

But end of the game at Kansas? End of the game at Tech? End of the game at Baylor? He was money.

J’Wan and Coach Sampson out there playing 4D chess. Purposely missing free throws in the blowouts to drag his % down only for teams to foul our best free throw shooter in the close ones because his numbers say he sucks.

It happened so quick it was almost the ref who made the call knew it was coming. It should have been called a T.
