Kelvin Sampson Best Team Ever?

“Nothing” does not exist. Lol. With the best coach with a deep team. History is on the Coogs side. If the Coogs dominate Auburn, nobody else has a chance except Duke with Cooper Flagg. They will be in the final four as well.

When one of our teams again reaches three consecutive final fours and plays in NC game, I’ll respectfully agree

Looking for another three (3) consecutive Final Fours.

One team can’t reach consecutive final fours

This team could easily go undefeated. Best coach in the nation with the deepest team. No team can match the chemistry, work ethic and talent combined in a game. Rather small ball or big boy ball. I’m not seeing a lost. Only team who could compete is Duke. They have the best player in college basketball.

Why overstate it with “easily?”
You are right there are probably handful of games that if they go right we can make a run. However, it won’t be easy and there will be challenges. f we make it through Vegas then we can talk because it may be awhile after that point…

C’mon, no college :basketball: team can “easily” go undefeated. It hasn’t happened since the '70’s.

Bet it’s not the good, high quality stuff lol

I have been understanding long enough, giving Coach this type of team is dangerous. A deep talented team with chemistry. He has not truly had that much. Close last year. But older and talented. They will blow out most teams. Wilson is the Coogs best perimeter defender and he is a back up. Jojo is Coogs best rebounder, he is a back up. Terrence Arceneaux has the most well rounded game on the team, he is the backup. Ramon Walker is the perfect glue guy, especially if the teams needs energy, he is the back up. Even for a bonus, the third string center can guard the best big man in conference. Every situation with every lineup could produce same results. I see a bunch of blow outs. The scoreboard would indicate “easily”.

And 98% of the people on this board believe in what you do about this team. It is not like you are selling what others aren’t buying about this team. Like I said, we get through Vegas unscathed and there is a likelihood we can go relatively deep into the season with a goose egg.
I don’t even do predictions and told some people last season if escaped 2 OOC games we were going make it to ISU before our next possible loss. Ended up 1 game earlier, the one all season we lost and had no business doing so. We make it past Vegas and we can certainly make it to Lawrence without a loss. Still there are reason teams don’t go undefeated and it’s okay if they don’t.

Regardless of their superior talent level and/or experience, no college hoops team since the mid 1970’s has gone undefeated. In the modern era (1985 to present) when the NCAA tourney was expanded to 64 teams, no team has ever gone undefeated. None. Nada.

Could the 2024-25 hoops UH team be the first one ever? Maybe. The odds? Highly unlikely!

[REMINDER: UH’s 1982-83 Psi Slama Jama team lost 2 regular season games to Syracuse and Virginia before losing in the championship game to N.C. State - finishing with a record of 31-3.]

But if we do it, we could do it easily!

Barely break a sweat and play all of the bench guys 10+ minutes. So easy.

We play in the Big12, we’re not going undefeated.

Even if we still played in the AAC, we’re not going undefeated.

And this is why people freak out after one loss. Because they have these insane expectations.

my expectations are not insane. I expect a lot of people to freak out after each and every loss

It certainly would give us a greater chance. Playing away games in the Big 12 is tough

The hype machine is out. We have been to six final fours and only one since 1984.
Anyone who thinks we are going unbeaten with this schedule is a French fry short at McDonalds.
We are very talented and deep, but let’s wait until April to talk about how good we are.
Geez, just sit back and enjoy the ride as long as it lasts

Haha

The tournament is a different animal, so I’m not including that in this.

We could have an undefeated regular season. I think we’re the best team in college basketball. Do I think we actually will? Probably not.

Our offense has question marks—as of today, we’re reliant on threes (which won’t always be there), we have few players who can create shots for themselves (a problem against teams with great defenders), and while we rebounded well against A&M, that’s just a one-game sample. With our core bigs, we’ve been known to get outrebounded at times.

The biggest issue is that we’re reliant on Uzan for playmaking and LJ for scoring. If we lose either, our offense would really struggle, likely resulting in Sharp taking more low-percentage shots. If we can establish bench scoring and find someone else who can create off the dribble, I’d be more confident in an undefeated regular season. Even without it, we look strong, but we’re still susceptible to an off game.
