From what I’ve seen so far Fritz has just enough patience to show some prudence and semblance of loyalty to players and staff but is not afraid to ultimately pull the trigger. I’m going to say we get to 6-6 or better next year and only keep getting better from there
No, but it tremendously help get the players that play football at the level we want to be. If we can’t get a decent NIL bag, we will have a really hard time getting the level of players we need – especially from the portal.
Getting players from the portal is a crap shoot, there’s a reason they are in the portal in the first place. They are either good players in mercenary mode, selling their services to the highest bidders or they weren’t good enough to get PT at their former school or players that want to come home.
Getting good players from HS recruiting is my preferred method if they are willing to take the time to develop. But we will always need some players from the portal, but it all boils down to which kind we can get.
Yes, they have an NIL plan. The NIL plan is to ask you and me and others like us to contribute more money to fund UH’s NIL.
Those are just wristbands with plays on them….just an easy way to communicate.
Simple numbers, symbols or codes that players can reference quickly……almost every team uses these now….they have been around for awhile.
When I used to coach football I used hand signals to give plays to my MIKE and he would let the line and secondary know what the call was….
When teams ran any sort of hurry up offense things got dicey….we started using bracelets and it made things faster and helped us.
Also, Barbary’s scheme is the exact opposite of “complicated “……there was no creativity and was extremely easy to defend.
Exactly! Why do we sign these guys for 2 years. The second year should be only guaranteed if he is retained.
At the end of the day we have no idea if his playbook was complicated or simple. By looking at the entire season we can assume it was overly complicated to his players. Results never lie. Barbay failed to communicate to his players. That is the bottom line. Coaching is easier said than done. Every successful coach will tell you the following:
“It is not about me. It is about you.”
Earlier this year I remember CWF talking about simplifying the Offense and only asking the players to only do what they are capable of doing. Maybe that did not happen resulting in a pink slip.
Who knows ?
Go Coogs beat BYU !
Thank God. I was worried we would have to ride his contract out b/c of all the money we have been hemorrhaging due to Dana’s buy out.
That is not to say UT got the best players money could buy off the portal including our own Golden. If we had that kind of money to throw around maybe we get better recruits and we are not talking about how bad our offense is.
I doubt that any respected and accomplished college OC would be willing to sign on to a one year contract at UH. Maybe someone just fired (without any other options) or a HS coach or some unproven guy. I think that most college OC’s likely sign on to 2-3 year contracts.
Don’t U guys hope we get someone who loves to run between the tackles?
I mean, yeah. The more I watch College Football, the more I turn into a “run the damn ball” guy. I just wanna be better at it.
If you can run consistent between the tackles you are set up for success
Which explains why we’ve only won 4 games this year and haven’t scored more than 12 points in 5 other games. We can’t consistently run between the tackles, and we can’t seem to turn the corner when we run outside. Our passing has been quite interesting, but that’s because “interesting” begins with “INT”.
Donovan was what he has always been he is talented but he is prone to turnovers at the worst moments. Chris was inaccurate in the spring game and since he has been the starter its been much of the same. I think CWF would like to take some shots downfield off the running attack but if the QB can’t deliver the ball to where its supposed to be what are they going to do.
Then he needs to fire the oline coach too
I do feel like the o line made progress throughout the season. It is tough on those guys when we are so predictable with the play calling though.
Willie says he expects to have an OC hired tomorrow.
Very interesting.
Has me thinking it’s Shawn Bell. Must have come down to financials and we can’t afford a solid OC.
