I find myself having to pump the brakes on Kingston Flemings after only three games. This youngster is uber talented but he is only a true freshman. He will make mistakes. His outside shot after three games looks better than Jamal Shead’s shot at the same time as a freshman. The comparison to Rob Williams is inevitable.
For Flemings’ reputation to elevate into the upper stratosphere, along side of Rob Williams, Flemings needs to lead a fast break and throw a behind the back pass to a teammate for a thunderous dunk. That will blow the roof off Fertitta Center. For extra credit, Flemings needs to lead a fast break and pass the ball between his legs to a teammate for a thunderous dunk. I saw Rob Williams do these multiple times.
He will make mistakes and have bad games. But with that caveat in mind, I think the level of excitement is justified. Yeah, it’s only been a few games against lesser teams. But he’s doing things I haven’t seen any of our other true freshmen do over the years. The biggest thing for me is his leadership. He’s running the floor with confidence. He can create for himself, but he’s also not selfish (as evidenced by his 9 dimes last night). He’s constantly communicating with the coaching staff, and he calls guys out when they make mistakes. He’s acting more like a senior than a freshman.
What do you mean what it’s become? Or are you talking about the 1980s when you weren’t allowed to earn your living while people made gobs of money off of you for 3 years even though 3 years is a significant percentage of an athlete’s total lifetime earning potential.
Speaking of TA. Three games into the season and nc state is blowing out their games averaging 100 plus a game and he has played 18 minutes and score 3 points. Wonder if he is hurt?
