Greece made its debut in 1968 at the Fed Cup and has been a member of the World Group for 10 years after competing in the top tier until 1991. The Greek squad enters the tournament as the No. 70 ranked team in the world and holds a 54-75 record in Fed Cup play.

Kordolaimi sports a 13-8 record in singles play during the current season on the ITF Tennis Pro Circuit. In her career, she is 89-58 and has won four titles (two singles, two doubles) winning both the single and doubles crowns at the $10,000 Sharm El Sheikh in 2014 and 2016.

Greece would advance to play Finland in the group playoff with a promotion to the Europe/Africa Zone Group II on the line. Sticking with her theme of not dropping a set in the tournament, Kordolaimi cruised to a 6-0, 6-4 win over Oona Orpana to pick up one of Greece’s two points needed to take the match.

Greece will join the host country of Moldova as the two squads being promoted to Group II. Moldova received a top effort from Sasha Perper who won three matches en route to earning their promotion. Perper was a student-athlete under Houston Head Coach Courtney Steinbock during her tenure at Mississippi State.
