LA Fires

Please keep in mind everyone that this is far from over. The winds are supposed to pick up again this weekend. Prayers, well wishes, positive thoughts needed.

Iā€™m in Los Feliz. I private messaged you but yours if and when ready. Couldnā€™t figure how to upload pic there. Sorry!

Actually this weekend is supposed to be calm

The wind will drop off quickly Friday, and the rest of the day through much of Saturday should be relatively tranquil compared to recent days," Zehr said.

Beginning on Monday, winds are forecast to increase across coastal areas of Southern California.

Iā€™m in Houston. In 2016 and 2017 had the Tax Day Flood and hurricane Harvey. Two feet of water in the house then 4 feet in the second flood. We were about a month away from moving in after repairs in 2017.

I thought that was bad but canā€™t imagine your loss. Your outlook is truly inspiring.

My deceased dad would say material things can be replacedā€¦you and your loved ones cannot. Happy to hear your family is safe.

Godspeed, fellow Coog.

Ha, I had that Robertson replica and a Liberty Bowl watch. I would feel bad taking your mementos.

If anyone has some spare XXL gear or such things, I might not object, but Iā€™ll rebuild my collection eventually.

I donā€™t mind at all. Just so you know, and I hope you donā€™t mind, but I contacted Dr Bertman who runs Spirit of Houston. We are working on a plan.

As far as insurance goes. Get ready to get a lawyer. They will try and lowball you. Your agent hasc no say hes just the salesman. We just went through this with my sons townhome in midtown and it took getting a lawyer to get a full payout. The contractors estimate was 95k. Like a good neighbor only offered 18k. Best of luck in the rebuild.

Been fighting with good neighbor for a year on a loss Jan 17 winter freeze burst pipe flooded the home downstairs, while unoccupied no one in home at the time. Just getting to a settlement after one year, ridiculous, still havenā€™t received the check, but on its way. No lawyers, did the appraisal process with an Umpire , in the policy. Initial claim like $4k final settlement 149k , still owe me ALE, Loss rental, and Personal Property. Good neighbor my arse!

Good neighbor is notorious for low balling. The ket is finding a good mutual company

Any you recommend?

I rely on Brian Pool but Iā€™d look at Liberty Mutual

Mutual companies are like co-ops. Nobody oend them. That means the policy owners are the focus.

Thank you, I married a Jewish woman, so weā€™re not lacking for lawyers.

Seriously though, we have been offered help in this realm.

Iā€™m overwhelmed by the assistance offered.

Had liberty mutual they gave me a hard time on my claims reason why I switched from them to farmers who did the same when it came to claims imo they all donā€™t want to pay and there going to give any claimant a hard time being a ex -catastrophe adjuster I see how they screw people. It sunshine and whistles when the media is focused on a disaster and the aftermath then media goes away then they stop paying things they were paying on.

Currently with Amica. Iā€™ve been going back and forth with Liberty Mutual and Amica for years. When I called LM in August to possibly switch back, I was told they are not currently writing new policies in Harris or Ft. Bend counties. Probably Galveston as well.

I do have my flood insurance with LM and they were great when I flooded a while back.

Damm that is a heartbreaking story. Iā€™ll pray for you and those affected .
