Pace was the biggest difference IMHO. Curious if we would have called plays differently if we weren’t behind or tied most of the game and hopefully next year we’ll have the same offensive strategy.
All season when we had leads we tried to burn clock, including completely giving up near half time on a few occasions. I don’t remember them burning clock at any moment during this game.
This time we pressed on offense all game long and even had a great 2 minutes drive to end the first half.
Totally agree, best UH has played all season. The offense, the defense were spectacular, except the special teams. Most fun I have had at a UH game in a long time.
Teams go through ups and downs, it is hard to put your finger on it sometimes, but losing your
strength and conditioning coach midseason could be be one factor. Overall, great season and one to build on. We don’t get 10 wins very often. Core players seem to be coming back, let’s run it back Coogs!
There was a lot of cougar pride at the Texas Bowl. Seniors Koziol and Connors played like it was their last games in their college life. Koziol even said he’d die for Fritz. Had it not been for the specials team, Houston would have won an easier game.
Weigman even said he didn’t like LSU and was playing with a chip on his shoulder.
It all came together and you have to thank “the man” and his coaching staff for instilling a winning culture.
