Before last season UT averaged 5.5 losses over the previous thirteen seasons. No school has done less with more then the Whorns. Funny how their obnoxious fans were nowhere to be found for over a decade but they sure do like to beat their chests and tell you how great they are when they have some success.

Unfortunately UT is clearly back in the top 10 programs in college football especially buoyed by their massive NIL and there is no reason to see it changing in the short term. It was great having them searching the desert for over a decade though.

However I will say this, I’m 38, and a second generation UH graduate, so I came of age firmly in the Mack Brown/Vice Young era and I used to get extremely angry and emotionally devastated when they would do really well. I even burned my bother’s friend’s UT hat with a match and lighter fluid when he left it at our house.

Now that I am older I still love watching them lose but it is more a love to see them lose than hate to see them win. The pure emotional investment of hatred isn’t there to take me on an emotional rollercoaster. It’s probably a lot healthier emotion wise that way to not get drug around emotionally when they aren’t even my Alma mater. God knows UH can be enough emotionally for us at times!
