That’s not why they got into the ACC.
The ACC brought in Califord and SMU in order to stave off any attempt to dissolve the conference.

Well that too and kinda ties into my third bullet
If they didn’t expand with the 3 schools, then ESPN could’ve renegotiated downward
The other bullets are true though
To be fair to DCTF, UH finished 1975 2-8, and no one predicted UH would represent the SWC in the Cotton Bowl the following year. I agree with your point though, these prognosticators are for entertainment purposes only.
Way too much turnover in college football these days to act like we really know how good or bad teams can be. FSU and ASU are prime examples of that. UH can win 10 games and I wouldn’t be shocked(not saying i predict that). But the one thing that you can really only bank on in this era is the coaching staff. Outside of our new DC. I really trust this staff over a lot of the other coaches in this conference. You constantly see our coaches on “Top 25 best coaches” list. I think we are in for a fun year, we are headed in the right direction. If our DC can piggy back off last year’s success and give us similar production. I think our offense will be significantly more improve, we can make some noise this year. Plus our schedule on paper is very favorable. 8 of our 12 games are against teams projected less than 7 wins. That’s a lot of winnable games. I think bowl game is our floor.
UH can win 7 games for sure.
We can win our 3 OOC games. Then a 4-5 Big 12 record gets us to 7 wins.
Now thinking we can go 5-4 in The Big 12, to finish 8-4. Our talent has greatly improved and Fritz can coach.
I honestly don’t know how we will do
What if Connor Wiegman is the missing piece to our problems and dominates the conference
Ive been trying to bite my tongue, but i think we’ve been so gaslit on Donovan Smith that Conner is going to seem like a 1st round draft pick in comparison
I was always iffy about Donovan, but I would be a hypocrite to feel that much more confident in Connor
Donovan had well-known consistency issues at Tech, and clearly those issues followed him at UH. His best game was against UT which is the crazy thing.
I think the fact that Donovan had “Power 5 experience” coinciding with UH entering the Big 12 in its first year played into the optimism
Connor at his prime (which was cut short due to injuries) showed great potential, but if you watch his film, you can see that the injuries impacted his abilities.
Perhaps he can stay healthy and show the world that he truly is a top 5 nationally ranked QB here at UH.
I say we average 250 yards passing realistically. Which would be up by 93 yards from last year.
I expect 12-0… but… but… what I really expect is fewer WTF (caps intended) losses.
I gauge off going “this is a winnable game” in the 3rd hell even 4th quarter of almost every game last year
Defense gives me reason to be hot on going bowling this year
A blend of 150 yards rushing and 250 passing will win many games.
I feel like every UH game is a winnable game
OU was winnable
Texas was winnable
But then we lose lol
