McDonalds All American game

These announcers are just slobbing all over Flagg and he’s not even playing in this game.

Agreed. But in fairness, they are slobbing over every single player here too.

Every opinion seems to include the phrase “He’s the very best in this class as a xxxxxxx” (where xxxxxx is passer shooter, rebounder, nose-picker, broken-hander, etc). It’s pretty over the top drooling.

since we’ve been attracting 4/5 stars since our first final four and next year is gonna be a “new era” for us in a way it kind of makes sense for that i guess, it also helps that the B12 means we don’t have to be perfect in non conference to get a protected seed in the tournament anymore

Agreed.

And I know things have been ramping up.

But THIS incoming class is a different animal. This is closer to a “fab 5” level than anything Sampson has drawn here. This is the kind of class historically limited to the Dukes, Kentuckys, Kansas, UConns, etc. WAY different (in my opinion) from what we are used to having.

And again, I think you better play your incoming McDonald’s all americans if you want to draw any of that level in the future.

I agree there are risks. But I look at other programs maximizing their freshmen and hope we will find a way to do so with these guys.

Oh wow. Who could have guessed?

Some on here believe that if Cooper Flagg had come to Houston, he would be a back-up, playing 8 minutes a game. After all, coach said you can’t be too young.

Jarace Walker started as a true freshman. I fully believe Kelvin will start 1 or even 2 of these freshmen if they are good enough. Frankly, I’ll be more interested to see who we have on the team that steps up into the rotation. I expect a combination of a little of our backups from this year, our freshman class, and maybe even a transfer starter.

Nobody believes that.

Doesn’t look like Cooper Flagg was that heavily recruited.
We didn’t even make him an offer.

I guess he knew he wanted to play for Duke.

He was being a bit hyperbolic but his point is taken.

There are people on this sight that have ZERO idea how good these freshman really are….

They keep hanging on to the “don’t get caught young” thing….this is not 5-6 years ago and these are not 3* kids that need two, three years of development to be on the court.

Duke is starting three freshman….yes they are bigs and we have one big and two guards….but they are still phenomenal players.

You may very well see all three starting depending on the portal and who stays or goes to the draft.

All three are going to play heavy minutes….

Coach and his staff will get in the lab, immerse them in the culture and produce a team unlike any we have seen in Houston in a long time.

Cenac and Harwell could very well wind up lotto pics….Cenac is already projected there.

Harwell and Cenac looked great last night dare I say good enough that I’d want them as an option ready to come off the bench in San Antonio. Disappointing that we didn’t get to see Flemings get the opportunity to play with them.

I don’t mind people questioning or fully understanding what kind of a role these young high school super stars will play when they get here next year nothing is a sure thing or can’t miss until it’s done. It’s much easier for most to look at what Milos did at Oklahoma or what LJ did at Baylor and have a clear projection on what it would like in a Houston jersey. The only one and done we’ve seen come through here is Jarace Walker.

The Bidunga kid over at Kansas was a major recruit and he came in and didn’t knock any of the older guys out of the rotation on a Kansas team that wasn’t great. Meanwhile Queen at Maryland carried his entire team deep into March Madness so I guess what I’m saying is it can be hit or miss depending on the recruit and the situation. What would help is if someone did player comps for our incoming freshman to some of the Freshmen we saw in college basketball this year because that would help our fans get a better idea of the production these guys might produce in our lineup.

Flagg was always going to go to Duke. It would have been a waste of resources to attempt to recruit him.

The WSJ has a story about Duke alumni contributing to a VC fund that privately contributes to the Duke NIL fund…tons of money being raised for facilities and recruits. Cooper Flagg was going to Duke…and nowhere else.

I like Cenac. Tall, long, and athletic. He will play from day one. He’s a tad thin, just slightly, but Alan Bishop will fix that issue. With some more muscle, Cenac will be a DUDE and big time player. Harwell can shoot. Like Cenac, he needs a little more muscle, but all the tools are in place. Once he gets stronger and comfortable with the speed of the college game, he should be another big time DUDE. Those are big time recruits. I had no idea our Coogs were reeling in the best of the best. They look like one and done kids, but they exceitment is there. Go Coogs. Off to San Antonio on Friday!!! Safe travels to all.

Harwell might get a stock boost, a few recruiting sites have mentioned him having a great game

on3 take on the players of the game

nothing really new…
cenac crazy upside but needs development
harwell great at everything but scoring off the bounce

Hes the one who looked underrrated.

I hope Tugler returns for his junior year. Him and Cenac would mesh well together!

The top 4 players are amazing nba prospects. Cenac needs to play more aggressive on offense. Hes a unicorn for a center with his athleticism, quickness & jump shot.

Maybe I missed it because I don’t know how this works but why was Harwell on the East squad and Cenac on the West squad?

they pick the top 24 and figure the rest from there…
