THIS says it all

Texas A&M is now the only power 5 program in the state of Texas that hasn’t played for a National Title in Football, Basketball or Baseball since 1940.

I grew up during the R.C. Slocum (I had to fact check that spelling and now I’m giggling) and was sold that TAMU took the road less traveled paved with ethics and respect
I’m now coming to terms that my uncle was wrong and/or he’s turning over in his grave.

They didn’t hire Petrino to be their chaplain; as long as he produces great offenses none of his past off the field antics will matter.

Art Briles is just sitting around waiting for his phone to ring.

As much as I don’t like A&M. I think the Petrino hire is a good one.

Petrino produced the 65th best offense in FCS this year.

In year 3.

It’s a disastrous hire for A&M.

I’m not sure it’s even a good hire from a football perspective. Guy looked absolutely washed post-Lamar Jackson at Louisville, he didn’t exactly kill it at MoState, and he hasn’t been an assistant coach at all in 20 years. I cannot fathom why the consensus seems so emphatic about him being great at A&M.

My guess is that Jimbo is trying to recreate the Saban ex-HC rehabilitation program.

The idea is so crazy, it just might work. Except I think he would’ve done better hiring Art Briles.

I don’t see Art coaching anywhere, especially not in Texas

Wouldn’t you love to read the background report A&M did on Petrino. I have a feeling many of us would read it and say “
and A&M STILL hired him???”

I think this is a great hire at ATM. They just hired a guy that will try to sabotage Jimbo so that he can be the next head coach.

Maybe that is Jimbo is hoping for so he can collect his big payday :sunglasses:!

That has crossed my mind.

Everyone in the SEC and especially those in Austin think it’s a GREAT hire!

Finebaum has clowned himself lately w the TCU bashing but he is right on this hire.
Comments are fun. You don’t read “whore monger” every day.

Wow. I’m surprised the Aggies have fallen to this level of desperation. Neither the HC nor its fans care about anything other than winning. Understandable since they’ve never done it. This move certainly won’t change that. This move is right up there with Orgeron hiring Pelini and I suspect it will work out about the same.

Bobby Petrino has flaws as a person but his offenses have always been good at every stop along the way. Now let’s see if Jimbo actually gives him full control of the offense.

Every stop along the way? He’s had some pretty bad years.

“With the talent & experience we have coming back we’re gonna finally win the league next year”

The broken record continues. Every year TAM is “supposed” to be really good.

In reality, TAM will still be sub-par.

I’m starting to understand why every Texas native I meet is either a Texas or Baylor fan.

All “Texas” fans you met probably bought their t-shirt from a gas station and never stepped foot on campus. Baylor is insufferable as well. I bet all the Texans you met are doosh bags.

” I bet all the Texans you met are doosh bags.”

Irony right here.

It would ALMOST be worth getting a TexAgs account just to post that :grinning:
