He’s such a piece of work, wish he had gone there, perfect fit. Herman stays
Considering one worked for the other - that may have been another issue folks never wanted to consider. You know they talked
Doubtful. There is bad blood between them involving a troubled Assistant coach at OSU. Rumor has it that CTH’s wifey played an internet role in outing this person’s problems, which led to probation, Meyer sitting for a few games in the Time Out Chair…
Ohio State folks probably hate CTH even more than frustrated Whorns…
Herman burned the Ohio St bridge with that weird controversy a year or two ago
That’s it…that bridge is burned to a crisp
Why don’t these so called big programs just hire a good coach from an up start coach who is getting it done elsewhere. They seem lazy in their research.
So, you want Texas to win games? I’m a bit confused.
Herman quoted Meyer as saying that he was taught by him to NEVER take current school recruits to your new gig. But…
It doesn’t fit the optics that the entitled boosters and fans deem necessary to meet their standards
Yes, backfired!!! TEXAS Is BAACK!!

Isn’t that what UT did in hiring Tom Herman?
He was a OC at national champ Ohio State. Came to upstart UH and went 13-1 beating Florida State in a NY6 bowl. Started year two Beating UT rival OU. Completely destroyed the Heisman trophy winner and Louisville that year. They knew his second year was derailed because he was already talking with them.
They also did that with Charlie Strong hiring him from upstart Louisville. who did well with him.
They did that with Shaka as well in their basketball program.
They found just hiring a young coach from an upstart program is no guarantee.
Their problem is they have a toxic environment for HC’s to succeed. Their so called BMD’s and their demands make it a very difficult place to run your own program. Too many people to answer to.
But that is good!
Meyer never was going to UT. We heard the same stuff about Saban going there after the last 3 coaches they fired. Just more of the incessant UT propaganda we always get to try to make people think they are some kind of royalty and everyone wants to go to Austin.
Saban was very close.
I don’t know why they didn’t put the full court press on Kyle Shanahan
Meyer probably entertained the idea just to hurt Herman.
Texas’ method for problem solving seems to be “just throw more money at it.”
Their HC job is often touted as one of the best jobs in college sports. What people don’t talk about is how difficult it is to please their fan base and work with their boosters.
So. Texas actively looked to replace Judas. Their savior, Meyer, turned them down. Now Judas has to go back and coach for a school that doesn’t want him there.
Texas gets kicked in the naughty bits by Meyer. And now Judas is back with his ego taking a kick to the naughty bits.
Sounds like a win/win for those of us who despise both Texas and Judas
I think it’s different in that they wanted to screw UH and get a coach who was on the rise. I think Texas just should just look elsewhere for new coaches and not be so lazy.
I think the whorns could lure Bush away from wherever he is, if they sweeten the deal enough. Of course Major is still available.
They should go all in on Bill Obrien + Applewhite.
