How many are Toyotas? They are moving to all hybrid fleet
BYD sold more EVs in Japan than Toyota last year, its home market, and 2024 was BYDâs first full sales year in the country.
Not a bad move, as an intermediate step, as battery technology continues to
develop. I missed seeing their annual battery breakthru announcement, but perhaps still early in the year for that one. For long term strategy, it appears they will go BEV and are planning on that. Toyota seems to be a very conservative
company in making big switches; but canât deny either they really pioneered the
hybrid ICE with the Prius.
Indeed it isnât. Iâm very happy with my escape hybrid. Was originally looking at the RAV4 and Camry hybrids but Ford dropped the price on the Escape($10k less than RAV4) so I went it. 8K miles in and averaging about 44MPG, better than RAV4, but not as good as the Camry(+50).
I have the hybrid Camry but had the Escape hybrid. I liked the Escape better.
Amazing that Japan is letting byd in their country.
Toyota isnât attacking the EV market. They have focused on hybrids
My dream 80s car is an R5 turbo.
My dream 80s car is a 1987 Buick Grand National GNX
I got to ride in the T-top version. Dealership wouldnât let me drive it, but took me out for a test drive.
Holy spit, Iâve never been in something that fast.
Great car, great rally carâŠThe R5 Turbo is more of an Alpine product (bought by Renault in the 70âs)
Interesting sites:
More Alpine please.

Now check this video of the Peugeot 208 test and driven by the all time best rally driver Loeb at Pikes Peak.
DISCLAIMER:
Put it on the big screen. It is DYNAMITE.
Probably easier to get a GNX than an R5 Turbo.
Anything is easy if you have enough money.
Money not the issue, its the wife!
Ok, its both.
I took a road trip to Denton in my Tesla. I used the FSD for about 95% of the drive. It worked great. I turned it off when I hit some construction zones. I donât trust it that much.
It stayed in the right lane. When I came upon a slower car, it changed lanes and moved right back over after passing the car. If there was a car stuck in the shoulder it moved into the left lane and right back after it passed the car.
It did add about 45 minutes to the drive with charging stops but I âoverchargedâ to the recommended levels to make sure I could get around Denton while I was there. I charged again before I left and recharged around Huntsville.
I would totally do it again.
would totally do it again.
What model do you have again? Is it the long range?
