I don’t see Sampson bringing in another point guard when Sasser needs to work on proving to the NBA he can get others involved with ball movement and assists.
This is a replacement for Sasser while R Walker & Sharp step in the 2 guard role

I think Pesik is the only one that has said Sasser needs to play PG.
He can be a CG in the NBA. And that’s what he will be here.

A positive way to think … Wilson is a terrible shooter, Sampson wouldnt look for sasser replacement to be a poor shooter especially with no post scorer and shead/mark shooting capabilities
I mean, it’s the only way to think.
This guy plays zero like Sasser. His role would be zero like Sasser’s.
It looks like Wilson only has one year left to play, and therefore he doesn’t really have time to be “a development project”. So, it appears that he’s just another guy from our farm team in Lubbock who adds depth.

Shooting efficiency has never been high on Sampson’s criteria for recruiting. A point I’ve heard him make many times. Also, I don’t think Wilson would come here if he thought he was going to be a backup.

He had a couple of very productive seasons. If he is the lone pick up at guard and Sasser leaves of course he has a chance to start.
Just one more spot to fill so we can know who our team is
Sass is more the PG sized combo guard who gets lots of shot attempts in HC KS offense.
Wilson looks like a rotation guy. If he is coming here, he must be looking to play some serious defense and will help.

Sasser was the starting Point Guard at the beginning of last season until the loss to Wisconsin last year.
I just don’t see why Sampson would grab another point guard when most of the load should go to Shead & Sasser. Sasser is definitely more of a Combo Guard but needs to prove he has Point Guard skills this year…
There are multiple Combo guards with Sharp and Mark on the team but if Sasser leaves for the NBA, there would be only one guard that has great ball handling skills with Shead. So grabbing Wilson assures there is a back up at Point now…

May be but that takes away a crucial 3 point shooter.
Since I haven’t seen much of Powell or Francis my opinion will completely defer to how our staff feels.
He was a backup at tech…houston is a preseason top 3, no way he thought he was strolling into a starting spot… especially when no other big teams were on him…
