I didn’t see it mentioned in this thread but does he have to sit out a year after transferring twice?
he is a pg thats that has a game with where he record 16rbs… there no doubt he will be a good addition and fit sampson system…
almost any negative contation is likely more connect to any comparison to sasser and viewing him as a potential replacement… if you remove the comparison to sasser he is a kelvin Sampson fit
I wonder what graduate degree he will be focusing in on as a student…
If you look at his numbers before Tech this guy has a lot of potential when our coaching staff gets to him. Shead is our point guard but if he gets hurt who do we have? Sasser can play point but we really need a solid veteran back up that can defend. If Shead scores more and shoots better I can see him leaving after this year and Mylik could potentially fill in for a year and mentor the next point guard. After seeing what our staff did with Edwards, Carlton and Moore in only one year who says Mylik can’t become better than he was at Louisiana with better coaching? This is 100 percent a win! Now I just hope there’s a 6’10 big in Jucco or the portal we can snatch up and Sasser returns. No matter what happens next Sampson has proved again and again that he KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING! Welcome to Houston Mylik!
obvious that he will give Jamal some rest at PG. Not related to Sasser. If we brought in a Shooting guard then I would worry !
He was recruited as a Shooting Guard
Nobody cares
Based on the few clips I’ve seen, did we just get Taze’s replacement?
This is what I was going to say. Feels much more like a Taze replacement than a Sasser replacement
Taze was more of a Wing and played at the 3 spot. Mylik is to play the 1 or 2 Guard position. Currently at the 3, there is Tramon Mark & Terrance Arcenaux. There is not a need to replace Taze…
Not sure he’s a replacement at all. He’s the backup/rotational PG we didn’t have last year. Honestly we are lucky that Shead didn’t got down for an extended period because we didn’t really have anyone that could step in that role, at least one that could do it well
remove pre labeled positions and just looking at their film, wilson and taze have a similar style of play, you could align their strengths and weakness… not “who is better” but style of play… if someone put taze at the pg position it would look like wilson
He has 2 years of eligibility which is unusual for a grad transfer, but COVID gave him that extra year.
Hm… he actually shot 35% from 3 at ULALA and his rebounding average of 5.5 is on par with Edwards. I’m looking forward to seeing how this kid develops under Sampson and Co.
There are some who stick their nose in the air at certain players because he didn’t score a lot, didn’t play huge minutes or start for TT.
After reading more about Wilson I see another weapon on defense. A guy like Shead , Sasser, GRob and CD who can get on the ball and create discomfort. A player who can get out on the break and run the half court making great decisions. An explosive athlete who can get to the hole and make plays. One guy who may not be a great shooter but also not a liability as a shooter.
Sasser, Shead and Wilson will be the best defensive trio we have had. Then having size with Mark, Arceneaux and Walker to give us more versatility.
I don’t think anyone has said anything bad about this pickup. If you assume Sasser is back.
Bad no but have definitely questioned his impact based on his most recent season at tech
He will have an impact here. Or Sampson would not have recruited him.
Will he have a Sasser impact if Sasser leaves? That’s fair to question.
There’s no reason to make that comparison but I understand why people want to do so with the timing of his commitment.
