Mylik Wilson commits to Houston

Where does the Wilson commit put us for scholarships? If Sasser comes back is that it or would we have an extra?

Always like the breakdown from Scott & Holman…

Sasser returns…our roster is most likely set as CKS typically leaves 1 scholly open…Sasser stays than we can expect another commitment from the Portal…

That’s a little misleading given eligible years remaining for many of the COVID year players

Sampson wins with his system. And his system relies on guards that can rebound. One of the few teams I’ve seen where every guard attacks the rim on RBs. We might not have the tallest lineup but we almost always have a numbers advantage on individual rebounds. Wilson fits that system.

A guard with the leaping ability to nullify the opposing wing. Ima supporter.

Mark. Really good freshman season. Love his moxie and penchant for making big plays, but as has been ferreted out here before, his pure shooting ability especially from 3 land has been AVERAGE AT BEST. Thinking he will put up 20 a game is just silly.

ONCE again. I know he was a freshman, and I’m not looking for him to consistently throw in game tying or winning shots from halfcourt, but it was mentioned that they were working with him on shooting last summer. I wonder why. And the benefits of that have to translate into actual game performance, not just he looked good shooting in warmups.

I would tend to agree with this, however Sampson listed him as one of our 2 best players going into the season (with Fabian). That’s even with healthy Sasser, who was phenomenal before the injury. I think as long as he’s fully recovered from his injury, we’re about to see a whole new level from Mark. Coach doesn’t hand out praise like that lightly, I think Mark is about to explode in the best possible way.

Kellen before the injury last season said there was a good chance he might lead us in scoring… this was for LAST season

There are ways to score beyond the 3 ball… kellen expanded saying most of the points would come from the mid-range that he considered mark almost unguardable in the mid-range . Said he might play a Caleb mills type role
That was on a team that had sasser, Edwards (who at the time we expected to be a good shooter), Fabian and Carlton …

We havent seen it in public games, but Sampson has noted there was a case that he could have been our best player… and said the pillars of this team were ā€œsasser, mark and Fabianā€

Saying he’ll do 20 on a team with no major offensive weapons isn’t that ā€œsillyā€

Nobody can really guard a midrange game from someone like Mark - guys who are tall enough to block the shot can’t manage the quickness, and the quick guys aren’t tall enough to disrupt the shot. He just needs to be good enough from 3 to make them respect it.

He was talking about a males that were on the flag team years ago….

It’s why you had to change your account and profile.

Flag this progs.

Doing 20 on a team and averaging 20 are completely different. Hopefully, you can see how you twisted that. Hell, he can do 30 on a team.

Good to great scorers doesn’t mean good to great shooters.

Take away his poor 3 shooting and his layups from his freshman year, you have an average shooter from midrange. AND I’M NOT SAYING HE CAN’T GET BETTER.

nowhere official, i read it on a tech board… and it makes sense, he is #1 in minutes among returning guards at tech, him transferring without an assurance of eligibility would be odd. its a board so it could be wrong, just passed on what i heard.
note smu was recruiting him hard with their last ship too, they were in desperate need of a pg for next season , i doubt theyd target a sitout guy…

im sure we’ll get coaches thoughts when he signs to know for sure

Being one of the best players doesn’t mean good-great shooting.

ā€œAbout to seeā€ is yet to be determined.

averaging 20 is my point. when i said ā€œdo 20ā€ I meant average 20… again not me, but the sampson have noted he is special scorer…kellen said he was deadly from the midrange and could lead us in scoring last year, kelvin in his freshmen year said he every bit as a good a scorer as anyone on roster(with grimes on the team)… he did 8 off the bench despite covid immensly hampering him according to sampson

note the caveat of my point was if sasser left and no one was added, the burden of scoring was solely be put on mark

You are asking for a long retort!! :grimacing::nauseated_face:
