HR by Murray to tie it in the 7th. Really rooting for those guys.
Another Racers homer. 4-3 top of 8
Unbelievable overturn of the DP call. That was bad!
Racers win. I am glad they didn’t get screwed by that call.
MURRAY FREAKING STATE to the CWS……and we’re stuck with a dud going into Year 16 that couldn’t find Omaha on a map…MURRAY ST
Yeah, and the TV guys seemed to have no idea. The runner clearly adjusted his line to slide at the inside of the bag to cut down the fielder. He did exactly what the rule was created to prevent.
That’s what I saw. But haven’t watched as much college baseball the last few years thanks to UH. The runner clearly purposely clipped the fielders leg away from the bag, but the way the announcers were describing it I thought maybe the rule had changed.
Most coaches that have been around awhile teach their MIF to throw right at the baserunners head ( if he is either not getting down fast enough or peeling off).
You don’t want your SS worrying about the base runner and then throwing off target….also, if the runner is coming in hot and tall and he gets hit in the face….he and the rest of his teammates will not do it again….plus the runner is out.
He changed his mind three times when they were reviewing the call and finally settled on that it should be a DP. As soon as the call was made, he said that was what he agreed with. It was ridiculous. The runner clearly slid to the left of the bag to clip the SS. He knew what he was doing. The review team completely pussed out
If Murray St. goes to Super regionals again next year, Nunez should go to the regionals and personally give their coach the job.
Something tells me he moves on in about a week.

So you think the Murray St. coach has a lot of Texas connections?
You think he would be better than Pat Hallmark?
Tell me why?
Poaching Murray State’s HC would be worse than when Rice hired Bragga away from Tennessee Tech. MSU is on a great run right now, but they’re no DBU or Coastal Carolina. Their coach is in his 7th season, and this was just his first regional and will be only his second top 100 RPI final ranking.
Exactly! They are on fire offensively and rode the wave to Omaha!

They were a 4 seed correct?
Not downplaying their success this year….obviously great job by the staff and players….they must have a great locker room and culture….however, unless we are talking about a Van Horn, Chip Hale( which is obviously not happening)etc. I don’t want a coach without some sort of Texas roots or previous time in the state.
Yes, they were the four seed. They couldn’t pitch, until last night, but they have been tearing the cover off the ball. I talked about this a couple of weeks ago. You need pitching in the tournament but getting hot at the plate can carry you a long way.
It is maddening that 25+ years of Noble / Whitting will result in zero trips to Omaha
Noble never got us over the hump but he had a lot more success than freaking TW.
I would not have equal disdain of those two men….one had fire in his belly and worked extremely hard.
The other looks half asleep most of the time except when he is acting like a buffoon and trying to not lose a game by the most bush league way ever.
Noble actually coached from 3rd base and watched the game. Whitting sits back and waits for a signal from a player and/or assistant coach to tell him to put down his Powerade and challenge the call.
Main thing I had against Noble is the entire country knew he told batters not to swing at the first pitch, so the first pitch was usually over the heart of the plate and our batter would just shake his head as it went past for a strike.
There is nobody out there who preaches to take pitches more than Schloss and his teams do a really good job at it. In college baseball, the pitchers are more likely to miss their spots, especially later in the game. I think I would leave it up to the player, after numerous 1 on 1’s, until it was causing an issue for the player/team.
