I was thinking about risking getting fined for going to far. I agree that baseball managers can sometimes energize their club by going toe to toe with an Ump over a bad call.
Well, Tennessee was pretty good with the bat this year.
Let’s hope he is a good recruiter and the reason for Tennessee’s hitting.
Still not sold on Mooney as a pitching coach.

The way some of these umpires make calls the sport needs to allow its umpires to be yelled at.

I went on Tennessee forum and they love the guy and wish him the best. They understood him leaving for a paid position at Houston.

Hope I’m wrong but this hire looks a lot like Rice hiring Bragga. Kivett is from Cleveland (Ohio not Texas). Played at kansas st. No regional connections that would help with recruiting as far as I can tell, little or no recruiting experience anyway. It’s like CEO Whitting has hired an intern to be his president. My optimism won’t be restored until Sean Allen is announced as our new HC, Woody Williams or Doug Drabek hired as pitching coach, and maybe Trip Couch is coaxed back for a third stint.

I think money is very tight at UH right now. I assume hiring a volunteer assistant is much easier on the pocket book than going for someone that is established. It’s unfortunate but that seems to be the case. Not taking anything away from Kivett. He might prove to be a great hire.
