Weekly Recap

DJ Hayden made the play of the game in the Lions 27-24 win over the Bears. Hayden scooped up a bad snap and ran it back 27 yards for a TD (See post above for video). He also made a tackle in the game. Lions are now 6-4 and a half game behind Seattle for the 2nd wildcard spot in the NFC.

Tyus Bowser continues to work his way our of the doghouse in Baltimore and saw more snaps on defense in Baltimore’s 23-0 win over Green Bay. He was credited with a pass defense and reports say that he was very active on defense when he was in there. The Ravens are now 5-5 and are sitting in the 2nd wildcard spot in the AFC.

Charles Sims got 1 carry for 3 yards and caught 3 passes on 5 targets for 25 yards in the Buccaneers 30-20 win over the Dolphins. The Bucs can’t seem to run the ball behind a porous offensive line, but were able to get enough in the passing game to get the win. They are now 4-6 on the season, 2 games back in the NFC wild card race.

Case Keenum continued to solidify his starting spot in the Vikings 24-7 victory over the division-leading Rams. Case was 27-38 for 280 yards and 1 TD while also rushing 3 times for 20 yards. It was an impressive performance against the Wade Phillips led defense and Keenum is starting to pop-up in talks for NFL MVP. The Vikes are 8-2 and remain in the 2nd spot in the NFC and would have a bye if the playoffs started today.

William Jackson III was unable to go with a toe injury in Cincy’s 20-17 win over the Broncos, but Brandon Wilson did play and made a tackle on special teams. The Bengals are now 4-6 and tied with 6 other teams at a game behind in the wildcard race.

Elandon Roberts was active and flying around the ball in New England’s 33-8 victory over the Raiders. Roberts had 5 tackles and was credited with a pass defense (off his helmet). Boston media seems happy with his play and says that he’s settling into his role well with the absence of D’Onta Hightower. Also said that he’s looked much better in coverage lately; a good sign as that was considered his big weakness. Pats are 8-2 and currently tied with Pittsburgh atop the AFC.

Looking ahead to next week:

Case Kenum (MIN) at DJ Hayden (DET) - Thursday at 11:30am on FOX
Charles Sims (TB) at Atlanta - Sunday at noon on FOX
William Jackson (CIN) and Brandon Wilson (CIN) vs Cleveland - Sunday at noon on CBS
Joey Mbu (IND) vs. Tennessee - Sunday at noon on CBS
Elandon Roberts (NE) vs. Miami - Sunday at noon on CBS
Wade Phillips (LAR) vs New Orleans - Sunday at 3:25pm on FOX
Tyus Bowser (BAL) vs Houston - Monday at 7:30pm on ESPN

PUP: Howard Wilson (CLE) - Have until today to activate or place on IR
IR: Kenneth Farrow (LAC)
Practice Squad: Cameron Malveaux (MIA), Greg Ward (PHI), Derrick Mathews (GB)

I feel bad for Farrow. If he didn’t get injured, he would be getting a lot of touches right now. Hopefully he fully recovers and does well in camp next year.
