I wonder what is going on with this guy. This is the second time in 2 years he has done this.
He’s looking for a contract extension with Navy to retain him because he likes it there. He has been there since 2007. I respect him for his long tenure and i doubt he wants to leave where he is comfortable making a difference and fighting consistently in a good conference.

Sounds like AZ has there guy and let him know so that he could get this statement out ahead of their own announcement.
If I had to bet, I’d put my money on Sumlin.
Nothing definitive, but I got a little inside info in AZ last week. The X factor that could blow it up is money. AZ won’t be paying like A&M.
I would think that Arizona used him to negotiate a better deal with Scumlin. If I had to guess, Swag probably wanted $5+ million a year but will have to settle for something closer to $3 million per year.
I, for one, am looking forward to UH and will welcome him with all the love and respect that he showed us during the C USA championship week.

This feels like Arizona passing on him and not the other way around.
For a guy that loves the Naval Academy, he sure does interview a lot.
