It’s not the firing that’s hard, it’s the responsibility of hiring someone competent. Look what a good hire did for Mack’s career.
But in this case it’s not.
I would bet my life that I could lead the program by leaps and bounds better than TW.
Now, before anyone says something snarky I know I would never get an interview……I took a different path after college….i did not have the time to start as a volunteer coach or grad asst.
But my point is there are literally 100’s of guys more qualified than I am that are called of doing a better job….be it top assistants or current head coaches.
So not finding someone better is a non-starter.
I actually think he would have to work harder to find someone worse.
Exactly!!!
Just Win Baby! Go Coogs!
Good for him sticking up for other coaches, but TW could have a professional ballpark and would still underperform. Anyone who has actually watched the baseball program and thinks this is a facility problem is not qualified to be part of the conversation.
Reverend Coogman is preaching the good word. Drink it in, my brothers.
I don’t care about the Todd talk, I want a new grandstand.
I think any coach that takes this job is going to want
Facility Improvments
NIL
Staff and recruiting budget increases.
But Sampson won and then got what he needed
- nice that folks use Sampson to speak for them since he’s pretty much safe
Go on and speak for support staff salaries while your at it since people have lost jobs for NIL payments
Our facilities are currently much better than our baseball program. So a coach needs to show he can do something with what we have. Spending money on those facilities with things as they are would be a terrible investment decision.
Could the grandstand/pressbox/dugouts be demolished and rebuilt in one year? Obviously that would include locker rooms and concessions. A fresh look would be nice. Anyone have any ideas as to what they’d like to see if redone?
Send Sampson an email - he seems to think he’s the expert on such matters. ![]()
And that’s fine….but TW started his reign of sucking long before anything was outdated….and they also have the new baseball facility….
Stadium upgrades have nothing to do with the baseball program being an embarrassment.
The baseball stadium had nothing to do with TW putting on a complete clown show in Stillwater which in turn gave travel coaches even more of a reason to not choose UH.
The baseball stadium had nothing to do with running kids off because of the way they were treated.
I could keep going….but it’s tired and boring.
Sampson won first? I’m trying to remember what those first few seasons were like for him before getting the GVL Center.
First year started off rough, but it got better during the season and continued improving. Basically the opposite of baseball.
Coogman going full bore Rick Ross
Sampson got facility commitments before he won. It was a requirement for him to take the job. I would expect the next baseball coach to do the same.
That said, a new coach could still do better than Whitting with current facilities just like Sampson could the old basketball ones. We can need new facilities and still need a new coach. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
I’d like to know which part of the facilities is responsible for a decade worth of Mickey Mouse base running. That needs to be the first thing upgraded.
