Ok, switching to football, how is Spring training?

GoCoogs released an interview with the WRs (Mekhi Mews was the interviewer)…

In it, one of the new transfers mentioned how Connor Weigman is a good QB and that he liked having a QB like him.

So, I’m guessing to (some) of the players it already feels like Weigman is/should be QB1.

Everybody and they momma knows Connor is starting lol

I think everyone knows Wiegman is the starter.

Never mind the palm trees, are we going to have navy blue piping on our jersey numbers? Inquiring minds want to know.

I heard one receiver say that one thing he liked was having a “playmaker” like CW at QB.

Sounds like the receivers consider CW to be the best in the room.

Don’t put money on anyone else being named starter.

And based on that receiver interview, it won’t be a matter of anyone not being given a fair chance. It’s simply because one guy has stood out above the rest.

So here is a dumb question from a basketball guy trying to get excited about football next year after my Natty hangover. Will Carlisle red shirt? Is it a given that Wiegman is the starter and Zeon will be the backup? Honestly QB was the biggest disappointment for me last year and I knew it going into the season and my fear was confirmed as the season played out. I feel the same about this year.

I expect Carlisle to redshirt. He may see the field early but doubtful beyond 4 games

Wegman is a blue chip QB. If he has his mojo back, he’s a gunslinger

I’m sure CW will start and Carlisle will redshirt. I am interested to see what they do with Zeon. He’s too good of a playmaker to stand on the sideline.

I better worry about the O line that is our biggest issue

Barbay is gone so that should be help improve our offense. Also, CW could be mid and that would be a big improvement over QB play last season.

Anybody know if the spring game will be on ESPN+ again? @monceaux

That has been reported.

I would LOVE for the OLINE to not be an issue for once. I see this season as 7-8 wins with no surprises.

If Chriss throws a pass this year we’re in trouble.

I agree Chriss is too athletically gifted to be holding a clipboard all season. I’m sure CWF and Slade have some packages designed around him.

Just spoke with a college referee. He hasn’t worked Houston but his buddies that did said they were impressed by the improvement in the team. “Best looking team we’ve seen in a while at UH”.

My guy worked Rice. He had nothing good to say.

Mike, you know we struggle in that area, but a Palm Tree makes everything better.

But this year we will break out of that mold and our dynamic team kicking butt will bring out the fans. Packed houses on the horizon.

In other words…you’re getting us excited about having an even BIGGER romp of Rice than last year, right?
