tebow wasnāt a good passer in college. thatās one reason why he flopped in the nfl.
He didnāt have the prettiest form but he was ridiculously efficient.

True but it was a power spread and dang near west coast to me. He never held the ball long and was efficient. Before Tebow hijacks this thread I will say thisā¦ If Tebow would have landed in San Diego with Norv Turner heād still be in the NFL. Look at what Turner did with Phillip Rivers. Rivers was already a great QB but before Turner got there his O-Line was getting him killed. Turner gets there and with his focus on quick throws and they immediately are better on offense. I think he led the NFL in passing twice before Turner left.
Back to the original topic: Tate isnāt Tebow and Mazzone isnāt Mullen. I do think itāll be a tough game, but they are far from a legendary paring that will win a Heisman together.

Now youāre trying to delegitimize ethe point I was trying to make and what xsmithcoog just pointed out. Tebow was efficient and more efficient than Tate. Which was the original argument.
Now youāre saying well he was in a spread offense. Tate was in a spread offense also, so you can throw that out the window. Variations of the spread but still.
my point was you dont have to be a good passer to win the heisman.
Just cannot give this kid time to let WRs get downfield. If he is run first you need to make it happen before the D gets too stretched out. Or there will be running lanes all over the placeā¦remember GW Jr.?

I mistakingly did not look up his statistics and went by my memory of his mechanics and how he did in the NFL, which were not good. xsmithcoog did his homework and pulled up his college statistics which clearly shows that he was extremely efficient in college. Specifically he was above average in his completion percentage and had an above average in touchdown to interception ratio. He also threw for approximately 2500 yards through the years that he was a starter.
So politely put, you were incorrect in your statement. Also you shouldnāt use the system as a crutch/excuse/justification. Every QB is in a system and the offensive coordinator tries to tailor the system around the QB. Furthermore colleges always recruit quarterbacks that they think will fit their system.
Also as we learned just because of the system, that doesnāt make anyone a good QB. Case ran the spread system very well, but others behind him struggled. Greg ran Hermanās system very well but we saw Postma struggle in it as well as Allen. So it is incorrect to say a QB is good because of the system, that is not a given.
Bottom line is Tebow was an above average quarterback in a tough conference and won the Heisman. From what I have seen so far with Tate is that he is average at best at passing and we will see what happens this year with his passing and with the Heisman.
How you can love Sumlin and hate Applewhite is beyond weird.

i donāt hate Applewhite. i just donāt think he is that great of a hc. nothing wrong with thinking that. if he proves me wrong iāll eat crow but Iām just being real.
Canāt help but feel good about this game with our history with running QBs. Just make him beat you with his arm. I donāt think he can. More worried about Tech in Lubbock than this one.

Me too. Although I love the transfers coming in for the secondary (Anderson and Watkins) and I think Isaiah Johnson will be improved this year, that is still a very much untested group. Weāll see what theyāre made of against Tech and it will be exceptionally difficult being on the road there.

Tate is great, but I am getting the feeling he is a little overrated at this point. When one person is your entire offenseā¦ We can only hope that he buys into his own hype.
