Fine is as good as advertised, will be one of the best 3 QBs we face this year and he has an experienced group of receivers to throw to. Their offense was super inconsistent last year, like struggling to score points against the dregs of CUSA like Rice, UTSA and UTEP. They also had to bring in a new OC because USC hired away Graham Harrell.
Also, they lose practically all their playmakers from a defense that was a pretty big part of keeping them in games last year. I can’t imagine them not regressing at least somewhat, which will probably mean week 5 in Denton is gonna be a shoot out. I can’t see them stopping King that often.
It wasn’t a full house the last time we played, and St. Case was our QB. We did draw lots of Coogs. Maybe their winning might attract more disco green. Please don’t talk UNT for ACC expansion. North Texas doesn’t support SMU.
Who gives a flip what SMU wants? What, if anything, do they bring to the party? Football attendance is embarrassing. No footprint what so ever. UNT would bring far more potential than SMU, I say dump them. UNT brings north Fort Worth, Dallas and in between. The Hilltop, please. A bunch of fat Republicans, all. Plus dumbest fight song ever.
UNT is located in a growing area but they are considered a commuter school. (Have you heard that before?).
They don’t draw from Ft Worth or Dallas and as Patrick pointed out, our game there in 2011 held the attendance record because that was the very first game in the stadium. A sold out stadium held the record for 7 seasons? Doesn’t sound like they draw much of a crowd to me. At least SMU has a rich history and you say fat republicans like it’s a bad thing!
I was at their first game in their new stadium and despite the Cougars owning a large percentage of the crowd it was not close to a sellout.
Most of the end zone section was empty so maybe they claimed it as a sellout to save the embarrassment, but it was not close.
Re Apogee and stadium crowds. On the UNT athletics/facilities site there is a photo of our game. Red dominates lower end seating and has a sizeable chunk of the end zone.
