OT: Fertitta buys WNBA Team

I would have rather him buy us some football players who can block or some basketball players who can fill up the bucket, but it’s his money.

Or a new baseball coach

This is great news and has nothing to do with his commitments to UH whom he helps more than anyone on this thread realizes.

Tillman is obviously a super smart business man. Is there really money to be made in the WNBA? I don’t get this move.

Man, what does this have to do with the coogs and they’re NIL?

Who you asking?

Great news!

All we need now is the NHL!

That’ll just create more wailing about UH sport’s attendance. “Too many things to do in Houston” trope

Maybe this will improve the Lady Coogs recruiting. I think at the end of the day, it still boils down to NIL and revenue sharing.

Overall if Tillman gets richer then he’ll be able to contribute more to UH…

The guy gives a smaller portion of his wealth but if the overall pie is larger then we’ll be in a better situation.

Before you get too excited, remember the Comets players will be all women.

Maybe we can show UH women some COOG love instead

Um, i hope he realizes that league has never turned a profit. :face_with_peeking_eye:

Do you really think Tillman hasn’t done his due diligence? There are more ways to make it pay off if it just gives him a big tax break.

I’ll root for them and go to some games to support the Boss Man but that’s a sizable investment for a women’s team

True fact. I’m not shocked he bought a team, but $300MM seems like A LOT.

Yeah, I don’t get it either, but for some reason, I’m glad we’re getting the Comets back.

Not sure how much fandom they’ll draw, but I hear they used to be competitive. Hoping they’ll be able to win & entertain fans.

If you make a lot of money you need a LOSER that gives you TAX write offs. I can’t think of a bigger loser than the WNBA.
