He can join Jimbo in the Millionaire Happy to get fired coaches club.
Wish I would’ve dreamt of being a failed CFB coach. Talk about a lucrative career lol
Good chance SMU plays for an ACC championship this year. They play a decent but not great Louisville team next weekend with a roadie at Stanford the following weekend. The rest of their schedule is a cake walk.
Lets not talk as if we’re not paying a chump 15 million not to coach.
He’s included as well
Mike Norvell signed a contract extension for $10M for 8 years, January 2024. I almost think that Pez was moonlighting at Florida St.
Cake walk? Every team left on their slate except Stanford has a winning record atm. They’ll be doing good to go 4-3 on that. 2-5 seems more realistic.
Clemson goes to Florida State this week, could decide Norvell’s fate if they go 1-5 after being ranked top 10 to start the season.
I doubt very seriously Norvell gets canned this year. Earlier this year, he signed a 10 year $8M/yr extension. I guess if things get dumpster fire bad, Florida St. can pull an A&M and fire him and owe him a lot of money. With conference realignment in a fluid situation, Florida St. may be reluctant to incur that dead weight expense.
Yeah, what’s crazy is that Florida State did well in the transfer portal by bringing in a number of transfers from SEC schools. They had five transfers that came from Alabama. Others include players from Florida, SC, Auburn, and LSU. How can they be so bad?
He ain’t going no where. Too much $$$ committed to him.
Who said the transfers were that good? The dark side of the portal recruiting - good today somewhere bust somewhere else once they get what they wanted in terms of the finances
Portal recruiting is like free agency- I play well on my contract year - once I cash in with guaranteed money I’m not going to play as hard - I’m good
That’s the difference between good and great
Clearly, they’re not that good despite transferring from big-name SEC schools. And that’s the point. Sometimes players sound good on paper but their performance on the field doesn’t match. People often expect certain transfers to play well because they came from schools like Alabama, Texas, Georgia, etc, but sometimes they don’t pan out. That seems to be the case at FSU.
As for UH, I want to see Fritz grab some proven veteran OL players but more than anything I want to see Fritz recruit and develop HS players just as he did at Tulane. This could prove to be difficult in the age of NIL but I still think that’s the solution to building a successful program.
Florida State may not have A$M money to buy out $78 million, but if they go one win I think Norvell is gone.
I rather Norvell stays as this is revenge for him beating UH from 3 years straight from 2017 to 2019 at Memphis.
Plus I want to see FSU get left out of the playoffs as long as he is there.
Serves them right for their fans before the Peach Bowl saying UH doesn’t deserve to play in a NY6 due to being in a G5 conference, playing weak teams, hearing about how Dalvin Cook and Jalen Ramsey would dominate us etc.
