Sensitive topic but hopefully this will lead to more development in the third ward area https://bidbanana.thebidlab.com/bid/OTN15woXNwu166QaInsQ
The cops donāt treat me like Iām white lmao
Agree 100% but UT is unfortunately a global brand. We just need to win and get the Houstonian UH fans in the building. I would also say cheaper pricing would help. Tons to do in Houston and some spend their money elsewhere, but if it didnāt cost a mint to attend it could help.
The original version of The Yellow Rose of Texas is about a Mulatto.
Yeah, it was a song from a minstrel show. Its lyrics have become āsanitizedā over the years.
Hereās an 1858 sheet music version with original lyrics. Warning: contains offensive racial terms.
Hereās an updated āsanitizedā version with a really cool AI imagined dramatization of the legend of the woman that seduced Santa Ana at San Jacinto.
Pack your lunch, that is one looooong article
Wasnāt that long.
But itās accurate. It was a blackface minstrel song. The Santa Ana story has no connection to it.
Not compared to some of your ramblings I suppose, while a lot more informative
I can only assume that Dr. Seuss would be too long for you.

Dr. Seuss repeats himself slightly less than you do
in this area there are white hispanics (which can be found in The Woodlands, elite privates, etc) - the 2nd generation working class which are pretty much all over Houston now and the ones that just arrived which normally habituated small towns or any random area in Houston others donāt want anymore
The ones attending A&M, UT normally are the white hispanics - the 2nd generation ones are attending UH in droves but sports are second nature to them seeing how many high schools theyāve taken over but donāt attend anything
It translates to us unfortunately
Lol
As someone that majored in the most racist discipline in academia (Anthropology), I keep coming to this thread hoping to find campus construction updates, only to see something else entirely ![]()
Key Takeaways
- Major milestone in medical research: The University of Houston broke ground on a $77.5 million Medical Research Building, marking a significant expansion of its medical campus.
- Accelerating scientific discovery: The new building will bring together students, faculty and researchers across disciplines with advanced laboratories and clinical spaces designed to accelerate discovery and improve health outcomes.
- Building for the future: The facility will advance UH Healthās mission to improve healthcare in Houston, across Texas and beyond, while supporting the Universityās goal of attaining Health Science Center designation in 2027.
Now THAT is great news!!!
There is no bigger factor in the AAU metrics that Biomedical Research.
This facility will hopefully help us to get/do more of it!
What do you want them to do? Perhaps handcuff every student, put them in a police van and force them to go to the gameā¦I get tired of those who keep saying the administration has not done its part or that we donāt have enough billboards around town, or that the local sports guys donāt talk up UH sports.
We are in a huge city, not a small country town.
So we shouldnāt want UH sports promoted to 7.9 million people in the Houston area?
I never said it should not beā¦we only get the big promotions, however, when our teams are nationally relevant like our basketball program has been under coach Sampson. Otherwise all you are going to hear about on the radio talk shows is about the local pro teams and maybe a few disgruntled Aggies.
The solution is and always has been win and win and win and hope the fans comeā¦
We stunned the world by winning SWC titles in football three of our first four years in the league, but attendance was still a problem. Nothing like the past 30 years, but still a problem.
That is not my point at all. Pride starts at the ground level. Otherwise the walls of UH means nothing more than a few partitions like you can see everywhere else in America. judasherman understood this from the day he considered taking the job. You know why he understood it? Because he recognized that this was our biggest weakness.
UH is located in the 4th to 3rd biggest City in America and is being looked at as an afterthought within the city limits. THAT has to change. It is highly ironic considering we break students records almost every year.
UH should be one of the top priorities for the City of Houstonās plans every year. It should be a Houston city jewel that everyone looks up to. Other notable universities are revered that way by their community. Yes that includes most if not all of the urban universities. Why should it be any different for UH?
I opened up that other thread because all marketing ideas ought to be considered. That is how you change the status quo. Off course winning takes a huge part in our attendance but it is much more than that.
The City of Houston looks at UH like another private university. Please chime in if I am wrong. rice o roni gets more attention. We saw that earlier this year.
All of the new buildings on campus look exactly like that.
Does it seems the medical school and the new part of campus south on 45 are on an island? There needs to be plans to connect them with a bridge over Breas Bayou for med school and a bridge over train tracks for the south campus. With the awesome look of the future campus, this should be included.
