OT: Patriots owner Robert Kraft's foundation launches NIL program for Jewish athletes

I’m going to stop here because this will get too political too fast.

Was this legally mandated? Or are you just alluding to how Jews were being attacked physically and/or verbally

That’s completely different than legal segregation

If you look at the post I was responding to, you’ll understand the context.

If there was a “Christian only” NIL - there would so much pushback lol. :joy:

Good for Mr Kraft

I would be willing to bet that all the NIL collectives at Christian religious universities have some sort of component that promotes “Christian values” or something. It is also likely they are defacto “Christian only”. However, it might not be explicitly stated.

There are similarly faith based groups to the Jewish focused NIL group listed in the OP.

Acts of the Athletes (AoA) is a faith-based NIL sports agency. We provide comprehensive representation and guidance to college athletes navigating the Name, Image, and Likeness landscape. While rooted in Christian principles, we welcome athletes and their families of all faiths and backgrounds as members of our family.

Then lets not forget, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been around a long time (their name is even on the Bill Yeoman statue). While they may not be offering any NIL deals, they do offer guidance on them.

I would expect as the NIL field evolves to see some Christian faith based NIL collectives similar to Mr. Kraft’s.

sometimes I read the post here and I want to pull the covers over my head and go back to bed.

That is why, I more or less stop posting about these issues.

As far as the Kraft NIL, to be honest I don’t get that either.

That will cost him almost nothing.

It won’t. Will make it worse.

I doubt it would make it worse. It is more likely to have no affect at all. It might give people who are already anti-semetic something more to complain about or make the selected athletes easier to target with hate but it isn’t going to make it worse.

This is obviously stemming from The Israel-Palestine war

Antisemitism in America is nowhere near as loud as it is in other regions of the globe in modern tomes. Its movement is largely amongst the far right.

Everything else that gets labeled as antisemitism are the people condemning Israel for what’s going on in Gaza

You’re wrong. Antisemitism had been growing for several years before October 7, 2023. As it doesn’t affect you, it is likely you didn’t notice. However, I certainly noticed when people were marching and chanting “The Jews Will Not Replace Us”, or anything Kanye and Nick Fuentes had to say since 2020.

I don’t know how you’re measuring that, I also don’t think you know what you’re talking about as you didn’t notice the rise in Antisemitism in the US prior to October 7, 2023.

Disagree, it is also very prevalent among the far left.

That’s a load of crap, while certainly some people may react to any criticism of Israel as antisemitic (which I would say is wrong), there is a lot more antisemitism that uses criticism of Israel as a figleaf. You can clearly see lots of examples of that in the antisemitism thread in the Sattelite. However, beyond these surface level statements I have just made, it is likely that discussion of what is or isn’t legitimate criticism of Israel is going to wade into prohibited political discussions.

Kanye and Nick Fuentes are both far right lol
, so i think better examples would be needed to prove what arguments in this regard

To suggest that antisemitism is growing but then using far left and far right as examples doesn’t really prove anything. Those at extremes.

But yes, that’s going to lead down a politics path. I think the frustration that many people have is that you cannot talk about Israel / Gaza without getting political, but you can talk about antisemitism when clearly has spiked depending on who you ask, due to the conflict itself

Keep in mind, many people had no idea about Gaza until the last few years because awareness of it has grown along with social media

Those were examples of rising antisemtism that have nothing to do with Gaza.

The difference is, antisemetic incidients are not necessarily political, even if some people use political excuses for them.

This thread got political many posts ago. We have veered away from the original NIL discussion into a geopolitical topic.
