I posted this in the basketball forum last night, I will share it here too.
-It was a Tuesday night, there was work, traffic and school the following day
-It was a no-name opponent
-Final exams are around the corner
-There’s a diverse crowd there cheering on the Coogs
I tackled all of the horsecrap excuses people around here use to prove a point. You want better football attendance? Win.
Since it’s obvious CDH isn’t the coach to get us there, I read the post as a condemnation of all the bs excuses not related to winning, and a supportive responsible administration, of why attendance is awful for football.
Who cares what our crowd looks like. Proud to be amongst a great group of Cougars! Anyone who looks around the crowd and counts racial groups is sick. JMO
What? I have not seen that here. I have heard unneeded discussions about so called diversity hurting attendance but no groups pointed out but nothing about specific groups.
Geez get over it. We need to win and be happy with everyone who shows up
While winning does wonders, there is a big difference in filling a 7,100 seat venue and filling a 40,000 seat venue. I would be willing to bet that more than half of those same fans at the basketball game last night are also football season ticket holders and regularly go to the games. There is a reliable core group of UH fans and there’s a group of bandwagon riders. The trick is to win enough to keep the wagon riders and attract casual fans.
