Florida has looked good all season. Out of all the teams in the field they’re the one that would concern me. Their bigs can knock down 3s and they’re a VERY good passing team.
I think too much is beint made of Auburn’s losses. A close one to an instate rival, one dud agaisnt Miss St, and a loss to Tennessee in a game that doesnt/shouldnt matter.
If Flagg is 100% I think Duke is the clear favorite. If hes not? Houston might be next on the totem pole. Right now you could make an argument for any of the 3. What Florida has that Houston does not is a better post/skill game. Condon has a lot of skill down on the post while still being agile/effective defensively.
One thing thats not in doubt, assuming reasonable health from Flagg, are the #1 seeds. This is the clearest group of #1s ive seen in quite some time.
Florida with some outstanding backdoor cuts. Jones and Milan would get eaten alive by that stuff.
J’Wan, Tugler & Francis hold down the post pretty damn well…
I think they’re playing the best of any team in the country. We’re not far off, especially now that Sharp is playing well again. Still want to see how Roberts looks next week. Health is really the only thing that makes me nervous with our squad.
I think Auburn still has a great chance of winning it too but I saw the full game of Florida at Auburn and they beat them pretty convincingly when Auburn was pretty much at its peak
They are well rounded team. I still would have UH beat them though in the final haha
We’d probably be the clear favorite to win the title in most years. This just happens to be a historically good 1 line. Nice thing for us is that we get to fly under the radar.
Tennessee says not so fast…!
Defensively? Sure. Put backs and athletic dunks? You bet. Consistently executing post moves with pure offensive skill set? I dont think thats how Id categorize your bigs.
You have a better offensive backcourt (including 3s), they have a better offensive frontcourt. Overall athletic profile is very similar between both.
The amount of times refs are waiting for plays to “play out” before blowing the whistle is insane. If the ball goes in? They swallow it. If not? Late whistle.
Ball call. And Condon travelled when he caught the ball anyway.
This grinds my gears.
Tennessee’s goose is cooked.
Tennessee doesnt have near enough shooters. If you take away transition and the lane, who is going to shoot the ball (and make it)?
I think they get upset first weekend.
VCU bending over!
Lets go Pats!
You’re the only Ten I See.
Florida scares me more than Duke. Not sure if that’s accurate but the eye test tells me it is
Disappointed in all you SEC viewers. ATen has been a fun game to watch.
If VCU wins the Aten likely gets one bid. A real shame.
100% agree. Seeing the 2 seed in the A10 miss the tournament is not good for bball IMO. just like what’s happened to the MVC.
But dont worry we get to watch Indiana and Vandy!
One thing about the SEC, at least among the better teams, they lack elite shooting teams. Kentucky is the best shootint team but they are hurt and flawed. Auburn is pretty good but after that? Grill is most of Mizzous shooting (and he struggled to start the year). I dont think its a coincidence two of Florida’s losses came against Mizzou and Kentucky, 2 of the 4 or so teams that CAN shoot the ball.
As long as you guys can defend the post, the backdoor cuts (Florida might be the best team in basketball at e executing them), and dont take dumb shots (FL is great in trans), you match up VERY well against them.
Flagg is everyones cryptonite. The kid is talented and unstoppable. And the rest id Dukes team isnt chopped liver, good enough for the Flagg effect to consistently put them over the edge.
My biggest fear for you guys would be defending the high pick and roll. Your choice of defense against Zona was NOT very good. The result? Veesaar started all kinds of breakdowns. Condon is agile, skilled, and could potentially cause similar problems. If you guys defend that, to where the rest of your defense doesnt start scrambling around? I think you are better.
